I hear you and an up to 20 minute O.T. period.

they will only do 20 min in playoffs. the whole point 'is' to get the game over in
reasonable time, another period, or more is unacceptable, and the have to move on,
as most buildings are booked up for other events, ice has to be removed quickly,
and many people complain about games being too long, 'so' the reason this subject
is being dealt with is about 'TIME'., so it seems 3 on 3 will end the game faster
than a shoot out, and already we are seeing a bit of that, this early.

the game is over after 3 periods, they just need a winner, quickly, for the
extra point.

Yeah, I suppose in a democratic country we have to reserve some time for people not interested in hockey.

???? - don't have a clue what you mean with that reply.
do you mean having to prepare building for other events, yeah, I suppose, I'm sure
they do that in non democratic countries as well.

its a 60 minute game, plus in between whistles, both teams tied, a point each, lets quickly
get a winner,
what the heck is much different in 4 on 4 overtime for 5 minutes or 3 on 3 for 5 minutes,

3 on 3 will cut down on shoot outs, seems pretty simple to me, whatever country one lives in.

people who want more shoot outs probably won't like it, who cares, shoot outs are very gimmicky,

so it is an improvement, if they come up with something better, then we'll hear about it.

tampa over boston - 6-3 - boston really struggling, injuries on the blue line.

islanders over jets- 4-2

buffalo over Columbus - 4-2

philly over florida - 1-0 didn't florida just beat philly 7-1 or something?

Vancouver over annaheim - 2-1 - close checking game, nothing particular exciting, good effort for canucks.
canucks looked real good in the shoot out, miller nifty poke check on perry for the win.

tomorrow in l.a., hope we see Virtannen.

Captain,

No, did not mean to denigrate the Jets.

On the contrary, my criticism was directed at Rangers who made several silly and needless penalties and were totally uninspired. Hopefully, they will rebound before the season ends.

Fair enough goph... I didn't consider your comment as a sleight against the Jets (I'm a Flames fan but have a soft spot for the Jets).

I made my comment based on the reality that the Rangers are a strong team and in all likelihood, they probably should have won.. That said, having watched the Jets last season (off and on), they have a strong core group of hard working guys that really seem to want to win.

It's amazing how a group of highly motivated players can achieve great results despite not having marquee players.. That was really my underlying point

Edmonton up against what I consider a team who will give many others team lots of trouble this season,
being the dallas stars, although I saw lots of good play from Edmonton, dallas was the better team
on the night. dallas 4 - Edmonton 2, mcDavid scored his first NHL goal tonight, that very serious face
broke out into a smile, good for him.

Calgary played well, I like their team, many good players, lots of jump and speed, but again, st. loouis
is big, strong and experienced, so gave Calgary all they could handle. = st. Louis 4 Calgary 3

first period in the canuck, l.a. game was very scrambly and neither team looked like they were going to
score, but when canucks got the first goal then their own game improved, they started making better
plays, got the second goal, then the empty netter, and l.a. just struggled all night, trying to figure
out how to score, they have only scored 2 goals in their first 3 games. Vancouver 3 - l.a. 0

back home now to play st. Louis on Friday, that will be a test.

they have started very well, and as I said a while back, a good start in a season can lead to more good
starts, a team can put away some insurance points, that could be badly needed when playoffs roll around.
they have earned 7 out of 8 points in their first 3 games. miller has been very very solid, and
the team is doing just what willie asks them to do, work hard, be responsible and they will be
rewarded.

Kudos to the Oilers, Habs and Islanders!

when the oilers add one high end defenceman, and also when eberle returns from injury, they
should be on their way to a better place in the standings, and not look back for a long
time.
I thought darnel nurse would be staying up with the team this year, but I guess I needs a bit
more experience on the farm team, but he will be a good defenceman when he is ready.

yeah, the habs are doing what they do, carey price will always be their ace in the hole,
and their team is playing well right now, just hope they support their goalie all season
and don't start having to win 'only' because of his great play.

I like the islanders team, always have, and glad to see san jose lose.

some good games tonight, canucks/oilers played a fast game, especially first period, lots of chances
for canucks, nillson was amazing in goal, stopped almost everything coming his way, and miller also
played a very good game, went to OT, more chances for both sides, finally oilers got the winner.

oilers 2 canucks 1

Anaheim over Minnesota, although wild were the better team for most of the game, didn't see the last
period, but Anaheim came out on top.4-1

4-2 - blues over jets

kings up on avalanche 2-1, final

The Montreal Canadiens blanked the St Louis Blues giving Carey his second shut-out of the season and the 36th of his career.

john torterella has just been hired as the new coach for the 'Columbus blue jackets'.

the jackets are a good team who have had a terrible start to this season, their goaltending has
been the main problem, not sure why, as he is also a very good goalie, and has been for some
time, but he claimed he just didn't have any confidence.
when the goaltending is sorted out, they can be that good team again.

not sure what effect torterella will have on the team, but he is being given a very good team, and
hopefully he doesn't twist them all around and make it worse.

he will be paid by Columbus and also by the canucks, hope he has learned a thing or two from his
mess he made in Vancouver, we'll see, but he said he had changed when he came to the canucks, but
obviously from his coaching mistakes and his behavior behind the bench, the same striped were still
on the same animal.

I also heard he would be the new coach of the American Olympic Hockey team, talloola.............would be nice if he has learned that his previous style of coaching is no longer relevant.
