I am not surprised. A) because current government has been doing a good job and B) NDP have had some issues.
Not really necessary. Just a myth pushed by the ruling class to cut the best out of the race.

I don't think Brad Wall will, at least not any time soon, and I'd bet never right now. He is deeply committed to Saskatchewan and as a third term provincial Premiere has more influence on the national stage than a federal Leader of the Opposition has. His values are not conservative, or Conservative, he's a moderate pragmatist and a consumately skillfull politician, one of the best we've ever seen. He IS the Sask Party and, as a local newspaper editorialized, that means the Sask Party has a built-in expiry date. The party was built from the tattered remnants of Grant Devine's disgraced Progressive Conservatives, disgruntled Liberals, and cranky old Reform Party people. He's kept it together brilliantly and suppressed the worst elements at its foundation, but without him or someone equally gifted--and how many people like that are there?-- I think it would soon self-destruct. And he's in for a hard time now that the commodity boom is over and his best heavyweights--mostly former Liberals--are retiring. I'll be interested to see how much bench strength he has,
