Costa Rica v Italia = 1-0 at the half

regardless of the outcome, my hope is that CONCACAF will deserve being equated with the likes of CONMEBOL and UEFA - our level of soccer is definitely improving and more North Americans are realizing this every day

Hi Turk - welcome to the forum.

Am very glad to see you are enjoying the tournament.

Costa Rica defeated Italy and goes forward in the WC. A superb match and great win for CONCACAF.

Well, folks, with Costa Rica's victory over Italy, it is now official. England will advance to the knock-out stage, where they will knock out all the other countries on their way to yet another World Cup championship. After a meaningless match against Costa Rica, which Engerland will win 148-0, the victorious heroes of England will proceed to London, where they will be joined by Admiral Lord Nelson at striker and the Duke of Wellington at midfield, with Prince George in goal. There they will take on all CGI and imaginary opponents, until they win the final 266-0, whereupon Queenie will put on her shiny hat, declare Engerland the greatest football side ever, and knight everybody she can reach with her sword.

Damn. What would be the purpose of doing that?

When the english is poor it's usually to suss out some sort of 'belonging' until real spam or scam is posted.

If english, syntax and thread/member-interactions seems too good, too relevant, it's usually some sore lonesome loser that was once banned and can't stand to be left out of the mix.

Or it could have been a bona fide person, in which case there might be an email inquiring as to why they were banned.

But I don't think so.

buddy the spam-post troll had several accounts with multiple IP's from Europe and/or via proxies.

When I saw Eagle's post I was taken aback - what the hell could Turk possibly have done that would cause him to be axed so quickly -- did he defend Obama in a hate Obama zone like this??? Gee, I thought, you guys work fast.

Now I see he had been banned before.

Nigeria 1

Bosnia 0

Heck of a game though Lady Luck was clearly on Nigeria's side. Bosnia appeared to have scored a tying goal but the linesman called an offside on a strike that appeared to be on side. Then with less than a minute to go BH's striker took a shot that glanced off the side post. One inch more and the game would have been tied.

Still another great game to be added to the long list of great matches in this tournament.

England = crap; out at the group stage for first time since 1958; lost first two games of the World Cup for first time ever.
Spain = crap; out at group stage for first time since 1998.
Italy = crap against England and Costa Rica; could face going out at group stage for second World Cup in succession.
Argentina = crap; struggled to beat Bosnia and Iran.
Brazil = crap
Germany = crap against Ghana
Holland = crap against Australia
Portugal = crap

The big teams are doing crap in this World Cup. Costa Rica to win it.

England looked good in both their matches. They could have very easily gone the other way.

If it helps any, you can watch USA go down in flames this evening. You wouldn't believe how many Yanks over here are saying "We could beat Portugal!"

Yeah. That'll happen.

I'm not bothered about England getting knocked out in the Group Stage. Because, let's face it, I'm sure they would have eventually got knocked out anyway. They've just put 53 million people out of their misery a bit earlier than usual this time.

As for the USA vs Portugal match, if Portugal play that match the way they played against Germany then the USA will win.

'Can we get rid of every England football ad?' Calls for World Cup flops' lucrative TV deals to be pulled in wake of embarrassing group stage knock-out

Supporters are furious that players including Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and Joe Hart are still being shown on their screens despite their embarrassing performance. Hundreds have taken to Twitter to vent their anger and are demanding the adverts are pulled. One fan posted on the social media network: 'Just woke up and turned TV on to the Mars advert with Gerrard scoring with an overhead kick. Is that some kind of sick joke?'
