Most Vietnamese wanted to be left alone to live their live.

That is probably true of many people everywhere, but you cannot make the existence of politics go away by ignoring it. Doing so risks creating a power vacuum, and what moves into a power vacuum is often undesirable. So in the end, and in the case of Vietnam in particular, we must assume the existence of some minimal political consensus at some level. It was to have an independent Vietnamese government in Hanoi governing all of what we think of as Vietnam.

You know nothing of what you speak. Get to know the people instead of reading people who agree with your political agenda.
But then again that would entail spending time with people of a different color and language . Lots of time because they would not discuss their inner feelings with someone they did not trust. Have you spent that time?

You are consistent in your error.

Haven't you heard about Obama's Pivot to Asia? Obama is an imperialist isn't he?

I dunno where you're coming from so I can't interpret your question? Aren't you from the "Obama is a Muslim Kenyan" crowd?

And you still know not of what you speak. When has America shown Imperialist tendancies. Maybe when they rebuilt West Germany while the Soviets were raping East Germany. Rebuilding Japan and making both the afore mentioned countries into independent economic powerhouses. Your anti American sentiment blinds you to reality .Why is America the destination of choice with displaced peoples the world over?

Like I think I already said, we'll have to disagree. No big deal.

There is no question but that Vietnam as a whole wanted unification under the north. The fact that some refugees want a museum isn't unreasonable, but don't get too carried away. History is pretty clear on the reality you are rejecting.
Have a link for that, or is it just ill informed opinion?

Saying that America isn't imperialist is like saying it isn't fascist. The only way to rationalize such a position is to impose a definition frozen in time. The difference between factors that were present or absent previously is used to deny similarity. The fact is that politics evolve. There may not be another western "Holocaust" in my lifetime. It happened too recently. Does that mean there can never again be extremist mass hatred leading to the slaughter of ethnic or religious groups? The Nazi's created an industrial assembly line to work Jews to death and reap a benefit from their deaths. That might not happen again in my lifetime. But to slaughter the out group indiscriminately? At least one poster on Canadian Content has called for war on Muslims: men, women and children. This is happening less than 70 years after Auschwitz closed.

A war against all Muslims, same rhetoric as a small minority of hard core Islamist's use- just a switch in the religion.
