i didnt write the article

great article though

--chavez has delivered tangible benefits to millions of peasants--- is that what you mean by communism..

im very happy here--
so moving isnt an option for me
the idea is to bring cuba and france and venezuela- HERE!

perhaps it is you who should move
i would suggest

austria
or antartica

increasingly---- your side becomes discredited--- and slowly weakens

do not fear the coming age of global communism--- i mean communism as defined by chavez---helping the poor and destitute---

que viva Venezuela!!!

Don't be silly.

Chavez has had most of his legitimate political opponents charged with treason.

He is a stupid, incompetent, dangerous tyrant.

Just the kind of guy the left loves.

You know, like Castro, Stalin, Mao................

Castro has about as much truth in him as you do.

Castro attacked again in 1956. Castro promised he would replace Batista’s dictatorship with free elections. He also promised to end government corruption. During Batista’s regime, many American criminals were involved in Cuba’s thriving tourist industry. Bribes were a common way of doing business in that era. Cuban business leaders, landowners, and Roman Catholic bishops persuaded the United States to withdraw its support from Batista and end arms sales to Cuba. On January 1, 1959, Batista and his family fled to Florida, taking with them a substantial portion of the Cuban treasury.

Castro’s government initially had the backing of most of the Cuban people, but many of his supporters were soon alienated. Castro seized agricultural estates, factories, and utilities. It soon became apparent that Castro was setting up a one-party Communist government. From 1945 to 1990, the United States and the Soviet Union were the two strongest military powers in the world. Each fought for control of the developing nations of the world in what was known as the “Cold War.” Shortly after Castro took power, Cuba severed its ties to the United States and formed a close relationship with the Soviet Union.

hey Zoofer, I am not a commie but I do support the efforts of Chavez. America is not a democratic nation its a large conservative empire. I don't see America suppling heating fuel to their poor, I don't see America helping the poorest of the poor in
South America like Chavez is. Hell the Americans have been sticking their nose into south american affairs for decades, propping up right wing dictators and stealing the resourses of that region for little or nothing only to charge large profit for the product in North America.
I believe all natural resourses should come under the control of a strong central government. Not altogether owned by the government but tightly controlled and subject to change for the good of the nation. And at least Chavez is standing up to the United States. The only problem is if they invade Venezeula they will have to fight all of south america as they are all sliding to the left. Soon central america will take the same road to destiny.
Under the Republicans, the Americans will be more and more marginalized, as the economies of India and China grow and the rest of the world will not need to feel the oppression of the American thumb any longer.

Dont be too factual with this guy, you will be labelled as a terrorist appeaser.

As you can see, the following posters, Cortezzz,
damngrumpy and Aeon and Jersay
all ignored Hugo Chavez's signing into law
something kin to Born Again Christian Right
stuff:

But since it's their guy, they're suddenly blind:

Some Venezuelan television channels began altering their programs Thursday, citing fears of penalties
under a new law restricting violence and sexual content over the airwaves.

The law, which took effect Thursday, limits broadcasts deemed to be obscene or violent and details a range of offenses for which the government may fine noncompliant media organizations.

The private TV channel Globovision blocked out photographs of street violence with white space when
it displayed the day's newspapers, filled with coverage of Wednesday riots that police said left at
least 25 injured.

"We cannot show the images," said Carlos Acosta, who hosts the morning news program "Front Page," as cameras focused on several Caracas newspapers.

President Hugo Chavez signed the Law for Social Responsibility in Radio and Television on Tuesday
night.

Full article and link posted earlier in thread.

In addition the co-opting of all TV channels
for hours at a time with unscheduled notice is
something else they would forbid of any other leader.

Hypocrisy and blindness.

Listen to the righteous respond.

Or not.

1. Would you be implying that OUR media doesnt censor things that they dont want us to know about. Of course they do.

2. I personally think it would be a damn good thing to get some of the explicitly sexual and violent crap off the TV and out of the sight of kids. It is unbelievable what a kid can see on TV these days. You want your kids to be able to see rapes and orgies and stuff like that..you want to watch it, order one of those brown wrapped videos......or watch the news.

3. Venezuela doesnt need to watch sex on TV. They are getting enough and dont have to live vicariously through actors. Must be all those stunning girls....... and guys. Whew!

To what extent is OUR media censored?

I don't have cable, but when I did, I don't rember seeing rapes and orgies....unless it was pay per view, which my daughter didn't have access.

Things I found overly obscene fell victem to the remote.

How do you know what Venezuela needs?
