I honestly think Trump got 'played' on this.

I doubt Syria or Russia are responsible for something that is so clearly counterproductive to their own interests. I suspect Mossad and anti Assad militias (some of whom are Jihadist) have surmised that a completely gratuitous attack with chlorine gas on civilians might prevent Trump from removing the remaining American advisors from Syria. They knew that the American media and Neocon imperialists would credulously blame Assad and the Russians despite the lack of evidence or rationale.

Trump has seen quite clearly in the past the absolute futility of American incursions into Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. They have done nothing but destabilize the countries and handed them over to religious factions and warlords.

It is senseless to continue this failed policy. I wonder if the relentless attacks and undermining of Trump's agenda by Mueller and press are starting to cloud his judgement.
