Passengers Didn't Hear Alpizar Say 'Bomb'

A teaser:

MIAMI -- The airline passenger shot to death by federal marshals who said he made a bomb threat was agitated even before boarding and later appeared to be desperate to get off the plane, some fellow travelers said.

One passenger said he "absolutely never heard the word 'bomb' at all" during the uproar as the Orlando-bound flight prepared to leave Miami on Wednesday.

Federal officials say Rigoberto Alpizar made the threat in the jetway, after running up the plane's aisle from his seat at the back of the jetliner. They opened fire because the 44-year-old Home Depot employee ignored their orders to stop, reached into his backpack and said he had a bomb, according to authorities. [/end teaser]

Trigger happy maybe? Why did they not use a stun gun or taser? All reports say he was mentally ill and never took his bipolar medication.

with all the technology they supposedly have.....why they have to resort to guns and bullets is beyond comprehension. They have not addressed the question of why they would so quickly assume he had "bombs " when he had passed the security systems during his previous trip and to board the last plane. They would have checked his back pack........so this is a knee jerk reaction....to some words of a sick person.

gotta admit that the americans are jumping like scared rabbits now. Their gov't fear tactics have penetrated their collective consciousness ......and they respond without thinking. They have been properly "conditioned" now.

Interesting that Spain does not have this problem and IT had a terrorist attack. Even Britain handled THEIRS better .....without so much drama and sensationalism. (which is just more pay off for the terrorists. Them Terrorists must love the yanks now......as all they have to do is utter a 'threat' release a video or statement and the yanks go nutsky. Who is in control of whom here???

........and the silly yanks continue to believe in the Power of GUNS......

Good Point.

I think a lot of what they did was to install fear into the public to justify the way they are doing things now. Not to mention it was a great show for the media and something "W" could use saying his anti terrorism plans are working.

I think the main reason he was shot, is due to the American mentality of shoot first ask questions later.

I dunno but it was one big "F'up" in my opinion.

that is my opinion too. ( Major Frich -up. ) Shooting an ill person does not add a positive image to bush's anti terror laws........as all it shows is the usual ......(as you say) shoot first/kill first ......investigate later. If I were the spouse I would sue......as that is the only frichen language the US seems to grasp. Lawsuits (MONEY) and GUNS..

Outside of that........things escape their liminted collective mindset. (but what can you expect from a society of instant gratification and creature comforts??)

...

I think a lot of what they did is kill a guy who was threatening to kill everyone on that plane. Even if he was disabled, he is still responsible for his actions. That means.. no bomb threats. THe marshal couldn't afford to wait and hug him and talk about the guy's childhood... the guy was running around saying he had a bomb.

Bang.
Now he's not.

The marshals had a split-second to think, and they made the right decision. Everything can't be solved with snuggles and tea parties. Sometimes you need force.

If I were a sky marshall I would not believe in the infallibility of any security measure.

I believe in incompetence and ineptitude.

You all can believe that any security system is magically perfect. Strange how you all would assume that.

How am I supposed to believe airport security would have made sure no passenger bring on board a bomb?
I do not have that much faith in the incompetent system to do its job.

That's why they got redundancy built in. Another last line of defence against ineptitude, incompetence.

How am I supposed to believe the guy doesn't have a plastic transmitter sending signals to a bomb in the cargo hold (which is a big gaping hole in airport security) ???

How am I supposed to know in a nano-second that his wife is not in collusion with this idiot ??

The guy won't stop when commanded to stop. I don't have the luxury to understand why he won't stop.

If I'm wrong, I got a lot more people dead.

How about Cuba being uninveted to the world baseball thing next spring? That's like Russia not being invited to a world hockey tournament.

Was Bush afraid that the US would lose, or what?

Is it not an irony how you hate American corporate capitalism and hate American foreign policy that you wish America to embrace Cuba and have a free exchange in trade and culture ?

Why do you want the Great Satan involved with Cuba at all ?

Wouldn't you be the first to complain how free trade with America and cultural exchanges are ruining the lonely beauty of that island ?

On this issue with Cuba I don't care what we do either way. Both sides seem to have it wrong anyway.

Well, you're right on that score, Rev.

I saw a documentary how the Cuban kids organize games all the time with a good branch and some fruit and play all day.

We parents in America, and the law suits and insurance premiums have all but killed the game for the kids.

The game was better when the parents and schools stayed out of it.

Hot news. A Bipartisan Filibuster blocked the Renewal of the Patriot Act. Apparently, today's NY Times article reporting that Bush approved spying on Americans without court authorization helped kill the renewal. The low-lifes in the white house and on right wing talk radio argue that this weakens our defense against terrorism. Bullsh*t. They could do the spying with court orders. Pathetically, the NY Times reports they waited a year to publish this report because the Whitehouse said it would compromise US security. Yeah, and there were weapons of Mass Destruction. Why should anyone trust these chronic liars?

CHRONIC liars !! INDEED....

New Crime Revealed:
Bush's Secret War at Home

We have now learned: Two years ago, George W. Bush went behind the back of the American people and secretly authorized the National

Security Agency (NSA) to carry out surveillance of people throughout the United States.

The secret presidential edict, revealed yesterday in the New York Times, allowed massive spying, surveillance of phone calls and peoples' homes without any evidence of criminal activity, and without court order. This complete violation of the Bill of Rights was ordered without congressional debate or judicial scrutiny and oversight. It was Bush’s secret, a hidden and criminal violation of peoples constitutional rights.

Bush’s secret action is a violation of federal wiretapping law, the Privacy Act and a violation of the Fourth Amendment. What remedy exists when the President violates federal law and trashes the Bill of Rights? The remedy provided by the Constitution is impeachment.

This latest bombshell follows a pattern well known by all those who are demanding that Congress defend the Constitution through impeachment. Bush cynically used September 11 to violate the most important tenets of the US Constitution and international law. The war of aggression in Iraq, the establishment of a global network of secret prisons and torture centers, the unleashing of secret police spying on citizens and non-citizens alike, the evisceration of due process rights and the systematic lying to Congress and to the people about the reasons for the launch of the Iraq war - these constitute the essential case for impeachment.

The American people are demanding in ever greater numbers that the constitutional mechanism that holds high officials accountable for criminal activity be immediately applied. The idea promoted by some that Bush is too strong to be impeached is sheer nonsense and it defies the historical record. Richard Nixon was on the verge of being impeached in the last half of his second term and not long after, he won a landslide majority in the 1972 election. Clinton too was impeached in the second half of his second term, on the allegation of perjury, when he had an approval rating of 60%.

Today Bush’s approval rating is hovering around 40%, the majority of the people believe Congress should vote to impeach if Bush lied about the reasons for going to war, and now millions more are shocked that Bush secretly authorized the most powerful spy agency to spy on anyone it wanted too without court order or evidence of criminal wrong doing.

The Bush White House, in its very essence, is the negation of democracy. The people must not stand by and let cherished freedoms protected by the Constitution, be stripped away in secret.

No surprise there. Amazing how 9-11 HELPED the bush cabal. It is almost like it was designed to configure his overall presidency. When in doubt .......bring up 9-11 has been their sick motto ....

Interesting that Spain.....and other places that have been hit ......due to their involvement with the US don't resort to such sick (hitlerish) tactics) Even London handled their attack more smartly.

Isn't it comforting to consider what bush has been doing in secret and /or planning to do.??? Wonder how much we don't know......under the label of "security". Hitler should have had it so good.
