I don't forget anything, James. An IRS guy just pointed out that people cheat on their taxes by claiming extra charitable donations. You pointed out that red states claim more charitable donations than other states. That would indicate that more people in red states cheat on their taxes by claiming extra charitable donations.

Yes, but he was also referring to claims disallowed by the government. However, the initial article of this thread refers only to valid claims that are processed by the IRS.

Do they audit everyone, James? Of course not.

True. Furthermore, I worked in NYC where we often did surveys for taxpayers from the entire USA under studies demanded by Washington DC's National Office. Therefore, contrary to N_J's view, claimed deductions do NOT prove or reflect proven actual contibutions.

I'll jump in here and say since the Bible-belters normally vote for people who redistribute money from the poor to the rich, who decrease the quality of education and medical care for children, who --with their stands on abortion, making war and imprisoning lawbreakers-- increase the level of misery and the financial burden on society, they should be more charitable than anyone else.

More often than not, taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich is what constitutes "charity" to the right wingers. Perhaps this is what they meant all along in that initial survey.

Oh Great Noodly Appendage, I was curious about your name and your avatar. I came up with this:

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is typically depicted as a clump of tangled spaghetti with two eyestalks, two meatballs, and many "noodly appendages," here in a parody of Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam. Illustrated by Niklas Jansson.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) is the subject of a satirical parody religion created in 2005 to protest the decision by the Kansas State Board of Education to allow alleged problems with evolution to be taught.

The religion has become an Internet phenomenon that has garnered many followers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (sometimes referring to themselves as "Pastafarians", a pun on Rastafarians) who claim to have been touched by His "Noodly Appendage" and preach the word of their "noodly master" as the one true religion. Flying Spaghetti Monsterism is primarily the invention of Bobby Henderson, a graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in physics.

This is the first time I have ever come across a Pastafarian, so would you care to enlighten us about your Flying Spaghetti Monsterism religion?

and here one could have thought that a "pasta farian" was someone addicted to spaghetti and meatballs...

.......hmm. That would have been too easy.
