It could be just a lull. I'm bored as well, but who is to blame? I don't think it is the new and improved Home Page. Praxius, you and I must work harder, finding topics of broad interest!!!
I would have thought that the 9/11 discussion by the Japanese Parliament would have sparked some comments.... not a single one! My "little angels" earlier.... not one word!
It also has to do with the time of day, because naturally, most Canadians work.
See, I sorta figured most would still be working during the daytime, but on average, since I've been in these forums, I have noticed a dive in posting during the daytime in the last week or so. It wasn't much to begin with, but was enough to keep things interesting as I get paid to draw. But now it's a bit slower I find.
By the time they get around after supper to look at the displayed topics, there is not much selection, because they disappear too quickly into the underground. Hot topics of the day get shoved out of sight by jokes, religion, philosophy, recipes... anything, it's like a conveyor belt. That bothers me a little... good topics disappear into the backroom within 10 or 20 minutes, if nobody throws a new post on them fast.
See that's what I was thinking was occuring. Before you'd get the most recent topics in each section.... now it's just the top 10 or so of all threads.
Sorry, Andem, I'm a spoiled kid!!

It has a lot do with just plain getting used to the system - I'm still not quite at ease with it, and I know other newbies have difficulty finding their way around.
Honestly I found it harder to find my way around in the original layout, but the quick reference tabs for the sections helped a lot. Now I see a list of all the sections, but the tabs are gone and takes a bit longer to view what I need.
Just nit pickin'
What I really like here are the friendly mods and admin! That you, Andem, make yourself visible every day and chat with us "commoners";-), is special, and rare in other forums I have visited.
See what made me leave the previous forums I was in, was not that the mods didn't or did too much with communicating with other members.... it was the attitude towards the members which made me leave.
I couldn't care less of a Mod saying things like
"These forums are not a Democracy, you do not have full freedom of speach or expression here.... suck it up." in fact, I usually back them up and say it along with them. (I've yet to need that line in my own forums, but someday)
Mods can be straight forward, direct, and hell.... they can even be pissy at times too if they like. It's their forums not mine.
But when I hear a moderator basically state that the individual members are not important to the overall community, that those who leave will easily be replaced, and that members won't be really missed, that to me shows a great lack in appreciation to those people who actually keep that forum running for those mods. If it wasn't for those members posting and contributing as they did, then those mods wouldn't have anything to do and probably wouldn't have a site either.
So I decided to make a stand and posted my departure based on those comments by the head moderator. I was at those forums for over a year anyways, acumulated a few thousand posts, created most of the active threads at the time, kept the variety flowing.... and then get handed a plate of shat.
I don't need moderators or other members to pat me on the back and say "God job there chum" ~ That's not the point. Heck I could post in here for years and if moderators or members never said anything directly I couldn't care less..... but don't dare try and trivialize the members contributions in the forums.
What's my point?
I like stories.
