Pilots got their callsigns from something they did or were involved in early in their career. Usually in trng. That's not to say that a callsign couldn't change, but I think anyone who landed or attempted to land on their dispenser would have been called dumb f*ck.

I had a nickname.What was yours, Murphy?

Crisp.

There wasn't much clearance between the ground and the dispenser. 18 inches maybe. I've seen a couple attempt to land on their dispensers. The tower normally spots planes that haven't lowered their landing gear and wave them off. That isn't always possible though. When the tower was busy, it was foggy, or toward the evening these things happened. Sparks flew.

Well, you'd be wrong about that, Flossy. Alarms are a fairly recent thing, developed after planes or pilots had problems. Back then, we didn't have computers like in your Game Boy.

104s only had a missile alarm, and a shaker to put the nose down in the event that the pilot climbed too fast. It was an anti-stall feature. The stick shook and then the nose pitched.

But you are a fighter pilot too, I guess. Quite the credentials for a 14 year old.

Go play with your friends. They're waiting.
