I didn't laugh... This incident is a tragic, but a predictable consequence of US gun culture.

Right . The father should have buried the kid up to his neck and stoned him to death. That make you happy??
Just because I am not Islamaphobic does not mean I believe I support stoning or even Sharia law.
For the record, I am agnostic and don't favor one religion over another. I have equal respect for all religions and belief systems and I don't judge people by race or religion. I judge people by their actions.

IMO, everyone should have fundamental human rights.

For the record, I am against amputation and capital punishments... I consider hanging, stoning, lethal injection, electrocution and firing squad as equally barbaric. Any of these methods could be hideously cruel and painful. My main opposition to capital punishment is that many innocent people have been convicted of capital crimes over the years, and as a result many innocent people have been executed.

But the father in this case wasn't punishing his son. He did what so many people who own hand guns believe they would do if they were confronted by a masked burglar or assailant. Which is why I wrote that this type of an incident is a sad, tragic yet inevitable consequence of America's gun culture. This story does not make me laugh. I can only guess how the father must feel, knowing that he shot his son...
