Actually he said they were willing to give him a party in a few days but he wasn't going to use his own gas and transportation to get there.

He said he had been a shop steward. In other words, voted in as most likely to be a pain in the rectum for management. He also said a couple days before his colleagues had a gathering for him.

Some people go through life thinking they are irreplaceable. He probably thought he was the center of the universe all these years at work.

Many feel lose their identity after they retire. He just sped up the process.

Poor baby! I had to fork out money for gas to drive 20 miles to my retirement party, but my dinner was paid for!
P.S. - only fair to add, the wife's too.

I drive 90klms a day for my work commute. I signed up for it so don't complain about it.

Not trying to pull any one-upmanship on you, but the day of the party which I wasn't supposed to know about, a limousine stopped in front of my place and two old co-workers came out to pick me up and escorted me to the Legion hall, only about a mile away, serving me a glass of wine along the way to get me going.....
Naah....It wasn't special....at the time all retirees got that treatment....The limo was only one way....Wife picked me up half-cut after the party

A few pics I took of a retiree arriving at the hall a couple of years later......

Sheesh, if the whiner on You tube sees that he'll have a heart attack and stroke both at the same time.
