Actually he said they were willing to give him a party in a few days but he wasn't going to use his own gas and transportation to get there.
Not trying to pull any one-upmanship on you, but the day of the party which I wasn't supposed to know about, a limousine stopped in front of my place and two old co-workers came out to pick me up and escorted me to the Legion hall, only about a mile away, serving me a glass of wine along the way to get me going.....Poor baby! I had to fork out money for gas to drive 20 miles to my retirement party, but my dinner was paid for!
P.S. - only fair to add, the wife's too.

Naah....It wasn't special....at the time all retirees got that treatment....The limo was only one way....Wife picked me up half-cut after the party :lol:
