You have an interesting definition of a moral Christian.
Moore was pro life, pro family, pro nation. Jones was anti life (a radical supporter of abortion), anti family (supporting its deformation and corrosion by way of recognition of homosexual 'unions'), pro post national globalism (in Free Trade and a 'borderless' world). In culture, economics and politics Moore corresponded to Christian principles Those are well defined and represent platforms which the Democrats have come to fiercely oppose.
Moore seemed to have lived a good Christian life for the last 40 years, even if you take the very questionable charges against him as fact. He placed those values over his career and was expelled from political office for supporting them.
If you took out any sense of conversion and redemption you'd have to trash many Saints, like Augustine (Manichean heretic and womanizer), Thomas Beckett (dissolute drunkard and whore monger), Mary Magdalene and Mary of Egypt (prostitutes), Bartalo Longo (satanic priest). Christianity is a process and very much about where you end up, not where you start.
