Whatever turns you on.

My neighbor drives truck.

Trying to get out.

Boring and the money just ain't there anymore.

Plus self drivers are on the horizon.

$1.65 a mile and I own my own rig..

aprox. 3600 miles a week, southern California and back to Alberta..

I leave Tuesday back to Los Angeles to deliver and pick up in Port Hueneme, CA where the above photos are taken.

Bet that can haul an island out of a lake.

600HP it damn well better.

I pull a 80 foot air drill, 2 800 bushel seed and fertilizer tanks, anhydrous tank and a 14 foot camper for running 24/7.

All digital and seed placement to within 2mm at 10kmph

45 seconds to plant an acre.

They hire Mexican Mennonites to do that around here. Good workers and cheap.

I could handle that lifestyle. I'm going for my 1A. It's cheaper to buy a used truck and lease 30t B train hoppers than pay for somebody else.

The days of field to elevator at 10t a shot are long gone.

With this 3rd combine we'll be custom harvesting or leasing CPP land.

I have a fridge, nuke keurig and TV/DVD with surround. Be damned if I'll miss a Rider game. I can go 15-16 hours per fuel fill and with auto steering I stand on the platform to whiz.

Not small ON lawns.

I see ... only lawns where you can see the curvature of the Earth, eh?

Question: How do you start up a small farm in Canada?

Answer: Inherit a big one.

Not for grain. Sugar beets and corn. There is no way in Hell anyone would plunk a wet back in the operators seat of a $900,000 rig like that.

Ever been to Mexico?

There is corn, corn, more corn and corn. A wee bit of wheat and more corn

And yet all the controls and systems are in English.

You have no idea what a unit like that has for functions.

Most big producers in Canada go to University and get agronomy degrees.

You have loose screws to think an illiterate wet back has a clue on how to work a grain, oil seed or pulse farm.

Yup. It's not rocket surgery ya know....well it might seem like it to you.

Do you think you hop in and turn a key and go in circles?
