I don't understand the need for women to represent women, minorities to represent minorities, etc. Don't men and women talk, exchange ideas, understand each other's wants and needs? Don't minorities talk to their representatives, male or female and explain what they need and want? If they don't it's their own damned fault if they get short shrift!
Gender and culture don't have a monopoly on intelligence and conscience, those traits can be demonstrated by any individual. Or not.
This is the same PC nonsense that prevents well qualified candidates from rising politically if they can't speak French. Does speaking both official languages somehow guarantee intelligence and competence?

Reminds me of the old story about the Trudeau family relaxing around the swimming pool when little Justin fell in and was in danger of drowning. The lifeguard did nothing and finally PET had to jump in and save Justin.
Confronting the lifeguard, PET asked, "Why didn't you rescue Justin from the pool?"
"I can't swim", replied the lifeguard.
"Then how did you get this job?" asked PET.
Replied the lifeguard, "I'm bilingual".

Good post! I agree with everything you say. I was just thinking if the Minister of Woman's issues was a woman it might keep a lot of women quiet as there is the perception that a woman would know more about their issues. It would sure make life a lot easier for everyone if Justin succeeds as Prime Minister, but as things sit right now, I can not see it happening. There's a complete financial breakdown in the offing. I haven't seen one infrastructure job mentioned.
