That could be easily straightened out at the next election. Recognizing that some governments are vastly better than others, I think the healthiest situation is a change once every 15 years or so as the best governments tend to lose something over time and a short term with a bad government gets people to understand reality and how bad some jurisdictions can be.

Here is an article illustrating how LIE-beral policy is making U.S./Canada relations much worse!! With some comments of my own in brackets):

U.S. search warrant accuses Canadian resident of smuggling Mexicans across northern border

By Jason Proctor CBC News

Published January 15, 2020

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is tasked with monitoring both the southern and the northern border for migrants crossing into the country illegally.

They paid $2,000 US to cross B.C.'s border with Washington state.

And they would have owed a smuggler another $11,500 US once they reached their destination.

Instead, the group of 10 Mexicans — including two children — were caught by U.S. border patrol agents in the back of a white van about five kilometres south of the Canadian border the day after they made their late-night crossing last May.

(And how did the illegal Mexicans get to Canada?? Legally of course - thanks to the Trudope LIE-beral choice to eliminate the need for Mexicans to get a visa before travelling to Canada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(This is just the latest problem created by the visa issue - we also have many other South American residents PRETENDING to be Mexicans and jetting into Canada for invalid reasons such as conducting criminal activities here - until they are caught and then they make fake refugee claims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(Naturally the accused fake Mexican criminals eventually have their fake refugee claims denied -but the process takes years as we know - and devours govt resources we cannot afford -and creates a “homeless crisis” as our govt shelters fill with illegals that LIE-berals are collecting as if they were crazy cat ladies gathering up strays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(So we pay for crimes committed on us by illegals, then we pay for the idiot charade of immigration court and then we pay to send the criminals back home!!!)

In a search warrant sworn to obtain phone records, U.S. authorities now allege a Canadian permanent resident is part of a group smuggling Mexican nationals into the U.S. from B.C. and from Alberta into Montana and eventually on to Texas.

(“Permanent resident” is LIE-beral speak meaning the person is a former immigrant who has been given the gift of Cdn citizenship - and is using that new legal power to mess up international relations for PROFIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

The warrant was filed last week in U.S. District Court for the District of Montana.

According to a spokesperson for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the document would normally have been sealed, as the investigation is ongoing, but appears to have been made public in error.

Regardless, the document names several people — including a resident of Canada and a visitor to Canada — who are suspected in four separate illegal border crossings involving more than two dozen migrants. 'One of them had two young children'

CBC is not naming the individuals under investigation, as none of them has been charged. They are identified by initials for the purpose of this story.

They could not be reached for comment and the search warrant does not give any details of their whereabouts.

(Maybe they went back home to hide out and get more Fake Id`s???????????)

But, according to the documents, border patrol investigator Shane Rice says he obtained a phone belonging to the Canadian resident.

"Instant messages sent and received during the smuggling event were discovered stored within the telephone," Rice writes in the application to obtain the warrant.

"These messages talk about ... the difficulty crossing the border due to the number of Border Patrol vehicles on the road and the inability to move quickly because one of the smuggled persons had a bad leg and one of them had two young children."

The warrant is for information contained on the phone of another of the suspects.

Heightened security on the U.S. border with Mexico under the administration of President Donald Trump has led American law enforcement officials to warn about the vulnerability of the northern border.

"At 5,500 miles in length, the northern border of the United States stands as the longest common border in the world," CBP spokesperson Jason Givens said in an email.

(And that northern border is guarded by Cdn LIE-berals who think it is amusing to close their eyes to any event or activity that injures or angers Yankees!! And yet always insulting LIE-berals wonder why they are not respected either by Yankees or frustrated Cdns who are tired of trespassing illegals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

U.S. border patrol statistics show an increase in apprehensions of migrants crossing the northern border illegally from 3,230 in 2013 to 4,316 in 2018.

(Oh nice - thanks to Our idiot Boy Justin - illegals are now more likely to consider Canada as an easy backdoor entry to North America and are thus giving Yankee Tea Party types more encouragement to CLOSE THE BORDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

During the same period, the number of apprehensions at the U.S. border with Mexico dropped from 414,397 in 2013 to 396,579 in 2018.

Overall, the numbers show a gradual decline in the number of apprehensions over the past two decades: there were 12,108 apprehensions at the northern border in 2000 and more than 1.6 million people caught at the southern border the same year.

The investigation detailed in the search warrant begins in August 2018 with a traffic stop of a U.S. citizen in Texas — identified here as MG — who was found to be transporting Mexicans from Montana to Houston.

A month later, MG was stopped in Montana in the hours after surveillance cameras recorded an alleged associate walking north from the U.S. into Canada.

The same associate was identified in surveillance footage on May 1, 2019. But the warrant says he was now acting as the "foot-guide" for a group of 12 people travelling in the opposite direction — into the U.S. from southwestern Alberta.

"The foot-guide will commonly be found in the front of the group to lead and set a travelling pace for the group," Rice writes.

"I know that at night, groups will form a single file line and follow the exact path of the foot guide."

Ten days later, cameras recorded the crossing of another group of people into Washington, where they were apprehended.

Rice says agents also stopped MG driving a pickup the same night.

He "claimed to be lost and on a road trip from New Mexico," the documents say. The agents released MG, but later learned that he was a suspect in the earlier human smuggling cases.

At roughly the same time, Canadian police stopped two vehicles north of the border. One was driven by ER, a Mexican citizen in Canada as a visitor, and the other by EP, a Mexican citizen in Canada as a permanent resident.

According to Rice, EP's sister had once been married to MG.

(Isnt that nice - the extended family is developing a new industry in Canada!!!!!!)

EP "admitted to dropping off the group to enter into the United States," the warrant says.

A month later, EP was also allegedly photographed crossing the border illegally back into Alberta a day after RCMP equipment recorded a group of four to six migrants going in the opposite direction.

According to the warrant, evidence shows the same group of alleged smugglers were linked to a September 2019 border crossing of six to eight people in southwestern Alberta.

(Such busy enterprising Bees!! Trudope DID SAY our economy is “booming” He just forgot to mention the CRIMINAL CONNECTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

In the hours after the group crossed into Montana, MG was stopped in the area by border agents who questioned and released him. MG said he was camping nearby with EG's sister — his ex-wife.

He told investigators the pair were trying to "rekindle the flame."

No charges have been filed against any of the suspects. RCMP did not respond to a call for comment. Givens said the investigation in the U.S. is ongoing.

(Given the Cdn LIE-beral attitude to illegals - one wonders if Yankees are getting ANY REAL CDN AID to halt this smugglers invasion?? And we should ask HOW PISSED Yankees are becoming as ARROGANT CDN LIE-beral swine mock and sabotage ALL Yankee political policy?????????????)

(How long will the border stay open when this kind of LIE-beral crap keeps happening?????????????????????)

Us BCers should sue the pants off him, pete. He knew the court cases and appeals would fail yet he went ahead and spent precious tax payers dollars on a futile and totally senseless quest. He's proven beyond a doubt that he does NOT have the best interests of our province at heart.

It will be interesting to see if any Provinces come forward and try and collect cash... i do know that the AB gvt was often quoting what it was costing the Province in lost revenues

from the link
"Trump spoke an industry event of the “astonishing increase” in shale gas production. The Appalachian region has spearheaded a historic expansion, turning the U.S. into the world’s biggest producer while slashing prices for consumers and sounding the death-knell for domestic coal"

Shale gas (and oil) production is far more expensive to drill and develop as compared to conventional reserves and the shale resources, in general deplete far faster

B.C. Premier John Horgan concedes defeat in legal battle against Trans Mountain pipeline

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Premier John Horgan has linked the battles over two major pipeline projects through British Columbia, saying once the legal fight is over, court decisions should be respected.

Horgan said Wednesday he accepts that the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion has been approved by the courts after the province’s recent defeat at the Supreme Court of Canada.

Earlier this month, the court denied British Columbia the right to regulate the contents of the pipeline. The expansion project would increase the amount of heavy oil shipped to B.C. from Alberta and mean more tanker traffic off the coast of B.C.

“Personally, I am not enamoured with the prospect of a sevenfold increase in tanker traffic in the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Salish Sea, but the courts have determined that the project is legitimate and should proceed. That’s the Trans Mountain pipeline in the south and I acknowledge that and I respect that,” he told a news conference.

In the case of Coastal GasLink’s plans for a natural gas pipeline through northern B.C., the premier said he thinks hereditary chiefs of the Wet’suwet’en nation will come to the same realization.

Through dialogue over time, Horgan said he believes the chiefs will see that the courts, the federal government and provincial government have determined that the pipeline is a legitimate project with massive benefits to B.C., especially Indigenous communities.

“I don’t expect the leadership to say tomorrow that they love the pipeline. That’s not my expectation. But there needs to be a legitimate understating that the majority of the people in the region are going to benefit for this, and that’s what dialogue will produce.”

Horgan said he believes the involvement of former New Democrat MP Nathan Cullen as the province’s liaison in discussions with the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs on the pipeline will find a resolution to the dispute.

Coastal GasLink has signed agreements with 20 elected First Nations along the pipeline’s 670-kilometre route from northeastern B.C. to an export terminal in Kitimat but the hereditary clan chiefs say it has no authority without their consent.

Cullen represented Skeena-Bulkley Valley, a sprawling part of northern British Columbia that includes the Wet’suwet’en traditional territory, until last year when he decided not to seek re-election.

nationalpost.com/news/premier-john-horgan-says-court-rulings-on-pipelines-should-be-respected

"But Horgan knew from the day he took office that any provincial effort to stop the project would be illegal and unconstitutional.

NDP Environment Minister George Heyman says Horgan told him so in appointing him to cabinet in July 2017.

“He was very clear that as part of transition, he had been given the legal advice that stopping the project was beyond the jurisdiction of B.C.,” Heyman told the house in an extraordinary confessional during the NDP’s first year in office.

“To talk about it or frame our actions around doing that, would be inappropriate and unlawful. We did not have the authority to stop a project that had been approved by the federal government within its jurisdiction.”

One would surely hope so, Cap but things in La La land aren't all that great when it comes to voting for anyone else. Wilkinson - leader of the Libs - is nothing to write home about and no one else seems to be stepping up to the plate in any of the other parties. There is also the fact that BC is much like the ROC when it comes to votes. The East elects the governments in Canada for the most part. Here in BC, the Left Coast generally elects the government with the rest of the province - the intelligent part of it - wondering why the hell we bothered to cast a ballot.

It wasn’t always that way . B.C.s power base historically has been the heartland . Somehow that has changed over the last thirty years or so.

The tanker ban is illegal and only applies to the north coast.
Horgan has once again proven himself to be a racist as he is actively trying to prevent native bands from earning money from the use of their treaty lands.

And you won't - any minimally well educated British Columbian knows full well the "Heartland" refers to that part of British Columbia situated north and east of Hope, B.C.

B.C. economy tops in Canada: Economic Forest Council

https://www.mycomoxvalleynow.com/60937/b-c-economy-tops-in-canada-economic-forest-council/

The province is saying that the B.C. economy is projected to outperform the rest of the country.

According to the Economic Forecast Council, the economy remains resilient amid global uncertainty, with steady growth over the forecast horizon

“From day one, we chose to invest in the people who power our province. Today, we’re seeing the results of those decisions as the Economic Forecast Council reaffirms its expectation that B.C.’s economy will outperform the country, despite global headwinds,” said Carole James, Minister of Finance.

“A resilient economy means British Columbia is well prepared to respond to global trade challenges, while continuing to deliver landmark investments in people and services.”

The council predicts that B.C. real gross domestic product (GDP) will grow by two percent in 2019, 2.4 percent in 2020 and 2.2 percent in 2021.

B.C. has the lowest unemployment rate in the country and is the only province in Canada with a triple-A credit rating from the three major international rating agencies.

Meanwhile, it retained its position atop the national leaderboard, with the strongest employment growth year-to-date to November.

The Economic Forecast Council includes some of Canada’s most respected independent forecasters who meet annually with the minister of finance to offer economic advice in advance of each year’s budget and fiscal plan.

The council will provide an updated economic forecast with the release of Budget 2020.

The Ministry of Finance’s First Quarterly Report, released on Sept. 10, forecast B.C. real GDP growth of 1.7 percent for 2019 and 1.9 percent for 2020.
The Economic Forecast Council projects Canadian real GDP growth of 1.5 percent for 2019 (versus two percent for B.C.), 1.7 percent for 2020 (versus 2.4 percent for B.C.) and 1.8 percent for 2021 (versus 2.2 percent for B.C.)
B.C. led all provinces by having the lowest unemployment rate for two years – one of the longest periods in more than a decade.
