She's been British PM for just 42 days yet Tory Party members want Truss out and Johnson back in.

After her bungling start, she could end up being one of the shortest-reigning British PMs ever...

Bring back Boris!

Get rid of the Remainer who wants us to join another European political grouping and bring back the former leader of the Leave campaign.

Thought you were anti Boris, or was it Pro Boris then anti-Boris...?

I'm pro-Farage

Scene set for a Farage return

Twice Farage has returned: the first time he got rid of Cameron and the second time he got rid of May. What damage could he do a third time, especially if he enters Westminster for the first time in the Reform UK party?

Sounds like Truss is out. Lasted 44 days.
LONDON — British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation Thursday after six turbulent weeks in office, making her one of the shortest-serving prime ministers in British history.

Truss has only been in office for 44 days. The previous record-holder for shortest-serving prime minister was George Canning, who lasted 119 days. He started on April 12, 1827 and died on Aug. 8, 1827.

The Left and Remainers have taken over the Tories and destroyed Truss and the party.

She put in Kwasi Kwarteng as Chancellor and he came up with a proper Tory plan to get the economy back on track and she was forced to replace him with Jeremy Hunt, a Remainer WEF goon who now is PM in all but name despite having twice failed to become Tory leader.

She's then been forced to sack the right-wing Suella Braverman as Home Secretary. Braverman was a good Home Secretary who had a good plan to reduce illegal immigration, and now she's replaced him with the more Leftie Grant Shapps.

There has been an undemocratic Remainer leftie coup in the Tory Party that has destroyed Truss and the party. The party is no more and this bodes well for another Farage return.

What a notable achievement she now proudly has: taking over from George Canning as Britain's shortest-reigning PM.

At least Canning, who was PM for 119 days in 1827, has a good excuse: he died.

Shortest term of British PM

The record of the shortest term in office depends on the criteria used.

Arguably, the shortest-ever period was only two days (10–12 February 1746), a record held by Lord Bath (William Pulteney), who was asked to form a government but was unable to find more than one person who would agree to serve in his cabinet. A satirist of the time wrote: "the minister to the astonishment of all wise men never transacted one rash thing; and, what is more marvellous, left as much money in the Treasury as he found in it." James Waldegrave, 2nd Earl Waldegrave was a prime minister for four days, 8–12 June 1757. However, since neither of these earls actually formed an effective government, there are other contenders for the record of shortest term of office among those who actually governed the country.

In November 1834, the Duke of Wellington declined to become prime minister in favour of Sir Robert Peel but formed a "caretaker" administration for 25 days (17 November–9 December 1834) while Peel returned from Europe. However, being a caretaker administration, this might not necessarily be considered a term of office in its own right.

Of those with clear terms, the prime minister with the total shortest period in office is Liz Truss, whose term will last between 44 and 51 days from 6 September 2022 until her resignation on the selection of a successor, expected within one week of 20 October 2022. Previously, this record was held by George Canning, whose sole term lasted 119 days, from 12 April 1827 until his death on 8 August 1827.

On 14 October 2022, the British tabloid newspaper Daily Star released a livestream of an iceberg lettuce, comparing the shelf-life of the lettuce to the remaining tenure of British Prime Minister Liz Truss. This was done in response to the ongoing political crisis which occurred just weeks into her tenure, leading to many commentators to believe that her resignation would be imminent. Truss eventually resigned on 20 October 2022, before the lettuce had wilted.

So there is going to be another Tory leadership race, but rather than lasting weeks this one will last just a week.

Nobody has yet announced they are standing but Sunak has so far received 31 endorsements, Johnson 30 and Mordaunt 12. Could we see Boris return as PM?

The new Tory leader is expected to be announced on 28th October. Truss will then, maybe the day after, meet the King to tell him she wants to resign followed by the new Tory leader, who will ask the King's permission to form a government.
