Doug Ford asks police to investigate threats

TORONTO - Councillor Doug Ford has asked Toronto Police to investigate after receiving an e-mail containing threats against his family.

There have been “serious threats” made towards his family amid the ongoing crack cocaine allegations hanging over Mayor Rob Ford and a Globe and Mail report alleging the Etobicoke North (Ward 2) councillor dealt hashish back in the 1980s, he said during an interview on CP24 Wednesday.

“(I’ve had) serious threats on my girls and sometimes you ask, is it worth it?” Ford told Stephen LeDrew. “It’s very concerning, you have four girls and my wife and you have serious, serious threats against my family almost on a daily basis.”

Ford showed the Toronto Sun an e-mail sent to him threatening his daughters.

“If anyone could read this letter in my pocket right now, they’d be floored, they’d throw-up,” he said on TV.

Mayor Rob Ford said he couldn’t say much on the incident involving his brother’s family.

“Yeah, a threat came in and the police are handling it — that’s all I can say right now,” he said.

Not news at the star.

I think there is a lesson in all this, when you have a reputation of selling dope to kids you have to expect this sort of thing (and worse) not that it makes the perpetrators any less guilty.

The fords have to do better than show stuff to the Sun of all the medias they could have chosen.

I'm having a hard time believing that people would send him emails which contained threats to his kids over this. I suppose if you checked him out enough you would learn he had kids, but I didn't know that and I don't know if he's married or not, nor do I even contemplate those points.

I know I could send myself nasty emails from a fake email account and then say "look at this".......

Toronto's civic election, in 2010, as told by Nicholas Kohler in Macleans;

...(P)erhaps the most instructive parallel to the present circumstances came during the 2010 election, when Ford’s campaign team was confronted with the existence of a recorded telephone conversation between Ford and Dieter Doneit-Henderson, an HIV-positive gay man Ford had met weeks earlier during a campaign stop designed to give Ford the chance to atone for a past anti-gay slur.

In that recorded phone conversation Ford offered to buy Doneit-Henderson the prescription painkiller OxyContin, also known as “hillbilly heroin.” Ford’s campaign had learned that the Star had obtained this recording and felt sure the paper was preparing to release its contents when they would be most damaging to Ford’s mayoral bid. Kouvalis, Ford’s campaign manager, directed a young member of the team, Fraser Macdonald, to secure a copy of the recording, which Macdonald did by creating a fake Twitter account, befriending Doneit-Henderson through that account, and persuading him to provide the recording. The contents of the conversation shocked Kouvalis.

“Why don’t you go on the street and score it?” Ford could be heard asking Doneit-Henderson, who continued pressing Ford for help getting the drug. “I’ll try buddy, I’ll try,” Ford says. “I don’t know this s–t, but I’ll f–king try to find it.”

Ford’s campaign team knew the recording might well lose them the election. But faced with the alternative—the Star releasing it—Kouvalis supported a plan in which Ford’s campaign would leak the tape to a sympathetic reporter. Rob and Doug disagreed. “The Fords didn’t want to leak it.

They wanted to see how it would play out,” Kouvalis told Maclean’s in 2010 shortly after the election. “I leaked it on them.” The gambit worked—in the end, Ford’s offer to help the ailing Doneit-Henderson appeared misguided but strangely appealing...

One of the men who tried to sell the Rob Ford crack video was arrested as part of the Project Traveller raids in north Etobicoke.

Now, Mohamed Siad, 27, an alleged drug and gun dealer, sits in segregation after being stabbed in jail just days following the massive police operation.

Siad faces a slew of charges, including participating in a criminal organization, conspiracy and the trafficking of guns and cocaine.

An ongoing investigation reveals that Siad was the man who sat in the back seat of a car on May 3 and showed two reporters a cellphone video of the mayor appearing to smoke crack cocaine and making homophobic and racist remarks.

I'll remember that next time you post about terrorist threats when acts of terrorism haven't actually happened yet.

Show me the severed heads!
