The non-binding resolution criticizes the "unprecedented and highly inappropriate efforts" to question the whistleblower's credibility.
The White House released a rough transcript Wednesday of Trump's July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky telling him to work with U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr to investigate the conduct of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
The administration transmitted the whistleblower's complaint to Congress prior to the vote and members of the Intelligence committees had a chance to review it.

218 House lawmakers back an impeachment inquiry of President Trump, according to a Post analysis
While the number represents a majority of the House, it does not necessarily mean that there are 218 votes to impeach Trump. The ranks of Democrats calling for an impeachment inquiry have swelled in the past week and culminated Tuesday when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced a formal impeachment inquiry. Of those, 25 have gone a step further and said they support impeaching the president.
