Okey-dokey. The U.S. national debt is now around 22 trillion dollars. Trump said he could eliminate the entire debt over the course of eight years. Since he's been in office, with both chambers of Congress under the control of his party for two years of that time, he has increased the deficit.

Not one Democratic candidate has come up with a plan to resolve the debt crisis. At most, they've come up with half-assed ideas (all of which amount to "tax the rich") to pay for the extra spending they're going to do.

I will now open the floor to tighty whitey righties to opine that:

1. It isn't happening.

2. It's all the Democrats' fault.

3. Trump is going to fix it.

Loony lefties with poor arithmetic skills are also invited to explain:

1. Trillions of dollars of increased spending will fix everything.

2. Trump is scum, therefore, getting rid of him will fix everything automatically.

The debt is an issue with no end in sight . Politicians and bureaucrats cannot control spending as it is not in their interest to do so . This problem started before Trump and will continue long after he is gone , and is not confined to the U.S. Other then they blame Bush . The

Foreigners hold all that debt, so it really doesn't exist. You borrow from shit hole countries.

Northern Ontario,
I agree there was a lot of O.D.S in this forum during Obama's presidency but nothing came close to the T. D. S. we have right now....

There must be more Liberal / democrat snowflakes than Conservative / Republican snowflakes in this forum

What we need is for Gopher to come in and ............
Blame Trump Blame Trump Blame Trump Blame Trump
It WAS Dubya that ran the debt passed the scale by waging two perpetual wars simultaneously on the other side of the world, both supplied by a continuous, non-stop airlift that lasted a decade.

Chachingchachingchaching.

Haliburton did okay, though. No debt, there.

And, as predicted, plenty of blaming "themmuns," and no suggestions.
Write it off.

You either owe it to yourselves or to greedy foreigners in shithole countries who are trying to make a fast buck at your expense. So what if Uncle Sam's Treasury Bills share the same display cabinet space as CSA dollars across your nation.

Your debtors will have a far bigger problem than you will.

In a way, I think we could do that. Get on a balanced budget, maybe take down the debt a trillion or two, and I think the world and the markets would let the 20 trillion ride, provided we kept up the roughly 330 billion a year in interest payments.

Congratulations, CC. You were the only one to offer even a half-assed idea.

The rest of you showed the quality of your minds.

My half assed answer is a lot more feasible than an austere Trump USA.

That one is pure Fantasyland.

I keep waiting for China to call in their notes. If it wasn't for China, the US would have folded long ago.
Why haven’t they Cliffy , they are in the middle of a trade war that is crippling their economy , they have unrest in Hong Kong, their North Korean neighbours are starting to talk with America . The Chinese have their controll slipping away on many fronts yet they haven’t called in those markers . Why ?

In my case, I showed you the quality of our PM's mind, or at least what passes for his mind anyway.
