However, "Once in a hundred year hurricanes" don't happen every decade. Except that they do now. The last time there were this many category 5 hurricanes was back in the 1920s and 1930s. There were nine between 1924 and 1938. After that there were only 13 between 1938 and 1992. Since 1998 there have been 11.
