Oslo is looking for more garbage to burn, they're importing. Lol. Seems I remember the GTA having some trouble disposing of theirs a while back. Seems like a good fit.

However, we have to look at the NIMBY angle, because you know that's going to throw a wrench into things. And if there are Liberal seats on line...well, I'm sure you know which way that will go.

It is being done in more enlightened parts of the world. For several years there was a group trying to get Vancouver's garbage barged to the former pulp mill in Gold River since the wood fired generators were still useable and mix dryland sort waste with garbage to generate electricity and sell it back into the grid. However the good greenies of Vancouver would rather truck their garbage to a landfill near Cash Creek rather than risk a bit of garbage accidently falling into the ocean.
Powell River had the opportunity to mix their garbage into the boilers at the pulp mill but couldn't get the necessary environmental permits and overcome opposition by imported greenies so they barge their garbage to the US for disposal. Basically garbage and biomass is an underused source of electricity.
