What a thin and pathetic op/ed piece.
Each and every argument made can apply equally to those provinces cut-off by AB. In effect, BC would be forced to (potentially) transact through the US to gain access to the ROC. Not a big issue, but in an econ environment where the CAD trades low against the USD, adding more cost to their imports will reduce their competitiveness dramatically, let alone the potebtial loss of exports through BC of energy products, agri products, etc will render the ports in YVR and North under used and too expensive to operate
That said, the most laughable component has to do with buddy's assertion that AB pay it's share of the national debt... A basic analysis of that debt capital will determine it was expended in Ont and Que so, they can suck it up and pay their own debts... On the finance front, when the calculation of the actual differential in equalization dollars that AB (and SK) contributed, the Feds will be paying back those dollars to the West.
Considering that Eastern Canada has a massive problem witth age demographics in more people retiring compared to the number of people that are actually working, any revised Canada will be transformed into a developing nation status over night
Anywho, the article reeks of an ignorant and biased author that is too desperate to actually see a clear picture
