Nehemias Chipada, who was visiting the Amaya View theme park in Cagayan de Oro for his birthday, thought it would be fun to jump into a pool to pose with what he believed was a plastic crocodile.

Oops.

Instead, he was left to fend off the beast, which did not appreciate being used as a photo prop and clamped on to the man’s left arm.

Chipada’s family watched in horror as the croc dragged him into the water, but he was able to escape the predator and scream for help, reported the Daily Mail.

Staff at the park treated him before he was sent to a local hospital.

The croc left him with fractured bones, that required multiple surgeries, and eight wounds to his left arm and thigh.

A 7.6-centimetre crocodile fang was also left behind from the force of the bite, according to the Mail.

Following the near-death experience, Chipada and his family blamed the theme park for not putting up warning signs around the crocodile’s exhibit.

“There were no advisories warning us not to enter the enclosure,” said the man’s daughter. “Because if there were, we would never have gone there.”

The park agreed to cover the costs of Chipada’s medical treatment, but denied any negligence.“

In Norway, Santa Claus has a boyfriend.

That’s according to a new Christmas ad from Posten, Norway’s postal service, in which an older man falls in love at first sight with Kris Kringle and waits up for him every year.

In the ad, titled “When Harry met Santa,” and clearly inspired by the 1989 romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally , this Harry is drawn to the bearded man in red and white.

We see the years pass, as the men get to know each other on the one night of the year, before their time is cut short.

Harry eventually can no longer take it and sends a letter to the North Pole that’s inspired by Mariah Carey, telling Santa that all he wants for Christmas is him.

That Christmas Eve, he receives a stack of gifts — delivered by a Posten worker, of course — and upon returning inside, Santa is on his couch waiting for him.

Father Christmas explains that he called in the postal service to take some of his workloads, allowing for the two to spend some quality time together.

The advert also marks the 50th anniversary of Norway decriminalizing homosexuality, ending with the message on-screen: “In 2022, Norway marks 50 years of being able to love whoever we want.”

It ends with a “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. From: All of us. To: All of us.”

Are they marrying dogs and toasters over there, like the White Right swore'd happen in America if we legalized gay marriage?

I said at the time "Why not? Your wife married a pig."

An Austrian surgeon was hit with a fine for amputating the wrong leg of a patient.

The patient’s right leg was amputated instead of his left and the mistake was only discovered a couple of days later, according to the BBC .

The 43-year-old surgeon was fined roughly $2,500 Canadian for the mistake. She was also found guilty of gross negligence.

The patient died before the case went before the courts, but his widow received a payout based on damages.

The surgery happened last May.

In court, the surgeon said there had been a flaw in the chain of command in the operating theatre.

FARTING LAWYER LOSES HARASSMENT LAWSUIT AGAINST COWORKER
A British lawyer who sued for harassment after a co-worker asked him to stop farting has lost his case.
According to the Irish Times, Tarique Mohammed lost his case against the Crown Prosecution Service for England and Wales. The barrister sued for harassment, stating he felt embarrassed after a colleague, Paul McGorry asked him to stop farting while working with him.
Mohammed claimed his continued farting was caused by medication for a heart condition. He said he had a heart attack in 2014 and was discriminated against for his disabilities by his colleagues.

The harassment lawsuit was raised after a 2016 incident when sharing an office with McGorry, who was reportedly aware of the heart attack and the side effects of the medication. According to the lawsuit, after multiple farting incidents in a quiet room, McGorry asked Mohammed: “Do you have to do that, Tarique?”
McGorry reportedly asked Mohammed if he could step outside to pass gas, to which he said he could not.
While Mohammed felt he was being harassed for his disability, a panel didn’t think so, stating it was reasonable for McGorry to ask him to stop.
The panel did accept that Mohammed was treated unfairly by the prosecution service by not allowing him to work at home twice a week and to leave the office at 4 p.m. in order to manage his condition, and by removing him from his court duties. For this, Mohammed will be receiving compensation.

TELEVISION SO REAL YOU CAN TASTE IT!

Have you ever wanted to lick your television screen?

Well, a professor from Meiji University in Japan has made that possible. According to ABC7 , Homei Miyashita, an associate professor at the university’s School of Science and Technology created “Taste the TV” which utilizes a combination of 10 different flavours to create the taste of food products shown on the screen.

So how does it work? The flavour is distributed on a film that slides onto the television screen, allowing viewers to lick it and “taste” the food they’re seeing in front of them. Miyashita said his invention gives people a chance to taste food from around the world without the need to travel.

He hopes people can one day “download and enjoy the flavours” of food from restaurants they like, regardless of where they are based in the world. Miyashita said the aim of his research is to review the relationship between humans and content.

Israeli scientists have taught one species to navigate successfully in another species’ environment.

To be specific: They’ve taught a group of six goldfish to drive on land.

Researchers from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beersheba wrote up their results in a paper published in the academic journal, Behavioural Brain Research.

They rigged up a Fish Operated Vehicle (FOV), essentially a tank on motorized wheels; helped by an onboard camera and a computer vision system that detects the fish’s position and activates the vehicle motors, the FOV reacts to the fish’s movements, location and orientation in its water tank and moves accordingly.

The fish — one by one — learned to move the FOV toward a pink marker for a food reward.

Over time they got better at it, so much so that target or arena changes — distracting markers in different colours, a change in the fish’s starting position or a change in the pink marker location — did not deter the fish from the food pellet goal.

The scientists essentially trained the goldfish to drive a wheeled platform that reacts to the fish’s movements and head for a reward, testing the aquatic critters’ capacity to navigate alien terrain.

The fish actually had to learn a few different things: new motor skills to ‘move’ the vehicle, how to navigate the vehicle in an alien environment (despite the vision distortion due to refraction) and how to use unrecognizable elements in this new environment for navigation.

The researchers reported, “ The fish were tasked to ‘drive’ the FOV towards a visual target in the terrestrial environment, which was observable through the walls of the tank, and indeed were able to operate the vehicle, explore the new environment, and reach the target regardless of the starting point, all while avoiding dead-ends and correcting location inaccuracies.

“These results demonstrate how a fish was able to transfer its space representation and navigation skills to a wholly different terrestrial environment, thus supporting the hypothesis that the former possess a universal quality that is species-independent.”

Those fish didn’t just learn to drive — they learned to drive on land. These results suggest a level of universality in space representation and navigation strategies.

A calf born with three eyes and four nostrils in India has locals flocking to a farmer’s home to worship it, believing the animal is the “incarnation of God.”

To the faithful lining up, the female Holstein Friesian-jersey cow, born last Thursday in the city of Rajnandgaon, resembles the Hindu god Shiva who is depicted as three-eyed.

“The calf has an additional eye in the middle of her forehead and also four holes in the nostril. Its tail looks like a ‘jata’ (heap of matted hair) and its tongue is also longer than normal calves,” farmer Hemant Chandel told Indian news agency PTI .

Chandel noted the calf was born healthy but requires assistance with feeding as its long tongue makes it difficult to nurse from its mother.

Word of the unusual animal spread, leading to a queue of people outside the farmer’s home with flowers and coconut offerings.

The calf’s deformities may be due to abnormal growth of the embryo, a veteranarian told PTI.

Another vet believes the deformities may have been caused by a hormonal disorder.

“In such cases, the animal does not survive for a long time. Some live for two years, or six months while some last only for 10-15 days,” Dr. Tarun Ramteke told news agency ANI .

Canada Post workers risk being sent home from work if they wear masks other than ones issued by the corporation, even if their masks are an upgrade in safety.

Employees who buy their own N95 masks and bring them to work are being told to switch to company issued cloth masks or risk being sent home?

“If they don’t have the masks we’ve provided, we have additional masks and disposable medical masks on hand. If an employee still does not wish to comply, they are asked to leave the workplace.”

Canada Post said Public Health Agency of Canada supports the use of cloth masks and that the company following directives from the ESDC that require employees to wear company supplied masks to ensure their quality. More at the LINK.

A Pennsylvania woman rescued an emaciated unknown animal that left her and wildlife experts baffled as to whether it is a dog, coyote or something else.

Christina Eyth, of Fairfield Township, Pa., noticed paw prints outside her door and went to investigate.

“I peeked outside the door, and that’s when I noticed the animal on my left-hand side, and it was so scared and so cold and shivering,” Eyth told WJAC. “All I could think about is ‘This animal needs help.’”

Eyth gently led the animal to her basement and waited until TJ’s Rescue Hideaway arrived to take the animal to Wildlife Works.

“They transported it here and I honestly can’t definitively say what it is,” said Morgan Barron, a wildlife rehabilitator for Wildlife Works. “Behavior-wise, he’s very timid, very scared and not aggressive at all which makes me lean toward dog.”

She added: “But to err on the side of caution, since they can carry rabies, and since it might be a coyote, we can keep it here, get genetic testing done and go from there.”

Officials say it is being treated for mange, a skin disease caused by mites, and is being kept in isolation.

“What do you think I am, dog or coyote?” Wildlife Works posted on Facebook alongside a photo of the animal. “We also will be doing testing to confirm what it is!”

The animal rehabilitation facility is treating the animal and collected and sent out a sample to determine what exactly he is.

The rescue has provided updates on the animal’s progress while awaiting test results, which should come back in two to four weeks.

“We are overwhelmed and thankful for all the love and support this guy is getting!” the facility wrote on Monday.

“He is doing much better now and is much more alert than when he came to us last week,” they detailed. “He is still not showing extreme signs of aggression but is more on the defensive side.”

Eyth said she would do it all over again if she had to.

“There was an animal in need, and I feel like I did the right thing either way.”
