Torture is Torture, no matter what age you are or what country you come from. Considdering the US and its government is suppose to be a part of the UN, they're supposed to acknowledge the Geneva Convention, and supposed to be the so-called "Leaders of the Free World" the fact that they were given the opportunity to make up their own definitions of the people they capture so that none of the above applies is just plain sick and wrong.

Does Torture work to get good information? Sure....

When the officials say they stopped a big evil plan from torturing someone, you can't say they are lieing. But I bet alternative methods could have worked just as effectively and still keep some integredy, rather then stooping to the same levels as those you claim you are fighting against.

It's contradicting and it's hypocritical in my view. And it may help them win some battles, but overall, the image and actions they seek to win these, will in turn make them loose the war.

They'll have to start killing faster and more often, they're not good at making friends are they?

One thing all of us have to remember is that the the US does torture, they do discriminate, they do steal elections, they do have massive amounts of political corruption and they do routinely violate civil rights. They act like this is a true democratic form of goverenment and that this is a democracy. It is a Republic (recite the pledge of allegiance) and it is now in terrible financial straits also. The leaders are so greedy that they are exporting the highly technically skilled jobs off shore so they can enhance their "bottom line" amd they could care less about the future of this nation. We are lied to daily and now the destruction of the CIA tapes surfaces. What do they have to hide now? I'll bet the levels of torture were the most damaging images we can imagine. Have we had enough yet? I still think the prolonged Presidential campaign is a smoke screen to hide other horrors going on in this government. When those stories finally break this may be the straw that broke the camels back.
