I was up early this morning. Waded in, & through those three above videos.
I don’t think Trump is a financial (& stable) genius who’s coldly (unpassionately) tweaking the global economy with targeted tariffs.
If he is trying to convince the world to adopt his digital currency (“stable”? dollar) by broadcasting instability while also making America a global pariah, as a temporarily necessary evil to be avoided even if it takes years to work your way away from it…isn’t a good selling feature.
Blanket tariffs with false claims in the day & age of simply almost everybody caring a portable computer in their pocket to fact check him….Regardless of how often he repeats his fallacies…also isn’t a good selling feature.
When the globe is hoping that he didn’t eat spicy food tonight before, leading to his 3 AM toilet tweets (or the Trumpian equivalent there of) that ripple through stock market markets, globally, is not broadcasting the concept of stability.
Trumps press board props listing global tariffs, and reactions to them, based on fiction and how he feels that day, again with the world carrying portable personal computers in their pockets, to fact check him… just make him seem like an unstable buffoon, screwing with people’s lives and savings, etc…bigly.
I try to differentiate between Trump & Americans here, as though he is currently be the face and voice of America, America is really 400,000,000-ish individuals wondering what the hell is going on themselves. Many of them are Trump fanboys, but many are not.
I believe, those nations that are able to minimize their financial dealings with America are doing so, & those that aren’t able to are working towards being able to minimize their dealings with America if at all possible. That is also not a good selling feature for the Trump administration.
Yes, America and China are the two biggest dominant economies on the planet currently, but China isn’t as reliant upon the US as many people think. If Trump is trying to start a global financial war with everybody at the same time….many will respond quietly but consistently to distance themselves from his turbulence.
On the smaller scale, Carney is a fool, trying to win an election, & thus many of his comments towards America, & Trump. Other nations aren’t currently in the middle of a tight election cycle. America will never be truly isolated, but it will become much more isolated than it currently is over the next few years, & this is also not a good selling feature for the Trump administration.
Ultimately, there are things that America doesn’t have that it needs from elsewhere. This isn’t 1800 anymore, & the global financial trade connectivity is just a reality of the time we’re in. Reliance on electricity is just a reality at this point, as is reliance on the internet, source materials for many of the things that America just doesn’t have in quantity, etc…& being the biggest, most unstable yet armed bully on the block, again, just isn’t a good selling feature, as he warns (OK, threatens) others not to respond to his bullying.
I think it’s human nature to want to be treated fairly, but accusing everybody around you of screwing you and then screwing them, & bragging about it, doesn’t make you popular individually or as a nation. This is also not a good selling feature.
