Silly fellow! Haven't you caught on yet? It's whatever Trump toilet-tweeted last night.
Retaliate against what? How many non-USMCA compliant vehicles and parts are we exporting to the US? All of them?
Trump is tariffing more than Ontario’s auto sector, right? I thought it was broad tariffs on everything from Canada?
Sorry, I was trying to point out the weird focus, where Trump has threatened to tariff everything from Canada, & Carney is it going to protect the auto sector…because that’s everything?

Currently 1/3 of 1% of Canadians have voted for the guy on the left, (& I believe only Elizabeth May has voted for the guy on the right) and Carney during an election (the “caretaker” period?) is throwing out statements without a mandate from Canadians as a whole (or even a majority) that are….not his place yet to do so???

Why are Carney and the media chimps making no mention of what's usmca compliant and what isn't? Just fight the evil BS.

I know I don't want Chinese parts in my new car. You? From what I've gathered Stellantis is the only auto facing tariffs.

Why aren't the chimps screaming about the collapse of the Canadian self righteous green economy? Is that Trumps fault too?

Which explains why we have so many problems. 50% of the population is totally cluless about the vast majority of the country.

Then there’s U.S. Vice-President JD Vance. “Speaking for President Trump, we want to reinvigorate the security of the people of Greenland, because we think it's important to protecting the security of the entire world.” Really? Aren’t you the same douche-canoe attacking the Ukrainian president in the Oval Office just weeks ago?
US Vice-President JD Vance has accused Denmark of leaving Greenland vulnerable to alleged incursions by China and Russia, as he urged its people to "partner"😉 with the US.
1743202690492.jpeg
This is the same arsehole that was lecturing the EU recently, lecturing the Ukrainian Prime Minister right out of the White House, & now he’s over spreading goodwill and cheer in Greenland?

Speaking during a visit to the Arctic island, Vance said he hoped Greenlanders would vote for independence from Denmark, which he said had not invested enough to protect the semi-autonomous territory.

Vance's claims that its ally Denmark had "not done a good job" in protecting Greenland come after repeated US threats to take over the island??? What the Shit Buddy? So you want Greenland to join you because Denmark is not protecting Greenland from you? That’s your sales pitch? Wow….
An overwhelming majority of Greenlander oppose the idea of annexation, a poll indicated in January. Greenland's prime minister has said the US visit showed a "lack of respect".

Back at the White House, President Donald Trump insisted the US needed Greenland to guarantee "peace of the entire world" and that its waterways had "Chinese and Russian ships all over the place". 🙄

"We need Greenland, very importantly, for international security," he said.

"We have to have Greenland. It's not a question of: 'Do you think we can do without it?' We can't."

The art of the deal.

In a few weeks when Trump drops the tariffs, what will the Liberals have to campaign on?

Reviving the green economy that obviously collapsed?

Dude keeps forgetting to forget about Canada, & apparently Greenland, but I haven’t heard anything about the Panama Canal for a while so we got that going for us?
In case you haven’t noticed Trump is President of the U.S.A. He gives two shits about us .

In case you haven’t noticed, he’s f*cking with our political & economic outcomes for his own ends which isn’t exactly not giving two shits. Not giving two shits would be maintaining the status quo, & that that’s not what’s happening.

Listen to him, & I bet he mentions Canada more often than you do and you live here, & if this is the top lead in story this morning, it’s sad times.

So he wasn’t a complete arsehole? Well, that’s news!!

So "negotiate after the election". Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, from me.

Caretaker provisions explicitly recognise that after the dissolution of parliament, the business of government must continue and that "routine operation of government" must be addressed.

Provisions allow for the routine operations of all government departments. However, the caretaker conventions impose some restrictions on the conduct of the caretaker government.

The Privy Council Office Guidelines state that government activity during a caretaker period should be restricted to matters that are:

Knowing what Trump is like, it is entirely possible he is just pulling Carnage's chain for shits and giggles.
The fact that Carnage would willingly destroy the Western half of the country to save one assembly line job in OntariOWE is probably not lost on Trump.

Could be. But Dougie is a liberal deep down. Or possibly he will kowtow to whoever is in power in Ottawa.
Dougie threatened to cut off the electricity after Trump threatened the auto industry. So we have kind of a chicken and egg problem.
I don't really blame Trump for wanting to cure the rust belt problem, but his methods are that of a spoiled 12 year old.
I am now against reciprocal tariffs because they will only cost Canadian consumers' money, and the left leaning political parties are looking at them as a replacement for the unpopular and stupid carbon scam tax. A far better method is to just avoid buying US products, and there is nothing any politician on either side can do about it.

No. Not after threats to autos. Try to keep up instead of party grandstanding.

“Nobody knows what the heck is going on,” said Goldy Hyder, CEO of the Business Council of Canada.

“You’re literally dealing with an environment where things are being made up as they go.”

This has been my life since Jan 20th.

U.S. trade representatives informed their Ontario counterparts that Trump has carved out two other categories — one for “medium” tariffs and a third simply dubbed “China” — (???)
1743277273612.png …according to the source, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, of course.

The details of those groupings are unclear. That fuzziness adds to a broader atmosphere of uncertainty ushered in by ever-evolving tariff threats that has chilled investment and frozen decisions on everything from hiring to marketing at companies across the country.

“They’re not starting that new line, they’re not planning that new expansion. They’re cancelling the new brand or the new product they were going to launch in the U.S. or Canada,” said Matthew Holmes, head of public policy at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

“The constant drumbeat of tariffs — it’s going to be on this date, no it’s going to be on that date ... now we’re doing a surprise one this week, just cause — is unpredictable and stress inducing.”

The distrust sowed by both Trump's threats and whether he will follow through opens the door to economic tumult in the near term, said Preetika Joshi, assistant professor at McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management.

So both Trudeau & Trump have anointed Carney before a Canadian Federal Election? It’s nice to see them getting along and agreeing on something. Is this what that Mar-a-Lago thing was about leading to all this “51st State” rhetoric?
