You trust an American president! I know you didn't just get to this planet so it must be something in your breakfast cereal.

Nah, there's a few sane ones who don't buy into the conspiracy theories and a lot of other hysterical sh*t that runs rampant in this forum-:)

Well consider if you leak State Secrets to the press- Not referring to Snowden like stuff- Just the stuff we see out of the Pentagon, WH and such- What happens in Iran, what happens in the US?

In Iran you get disappeared or shot or both. In the US you get publicly outed so your family is ostracized, then you get disappeared or a sham trial then shot or all of the above.

Well I trust him more than some yahoo dictator in the ME.

That makes you a fool. The dictators don't hide their agendas or their methods whereas the western leaders continually move towards a police state and launch illegal wars for control of resources while saying it is all to ensure our freedom and spread democracy.

Pulling back the curtain

Roger Kimball at PJ Media:
"Here's the thing: from a certain distance and in a certain light Obama looks like an Important Person, the president of the United States, leader of the free (or at least formerly free) world, just as John Kerry looks (well, sort of looks) like something more than an insufferable prig and blowhard.
The Single Best Article I Have Read on Syria

Where by “Syria” I mean our response to the civil war in Syria, i.e., efforts by terrorist thugs (the “rebels,” freedom fighters, etc.) to topple an establishment thug (the rogue ophthalmologist, B. al-Assad). That article is Andy McCarthy’s “Drawing an Al-Qaeda Red Line” over at NRO. What’s so good about it? Several things.

Item: Andy calls attention to the enormous hypocrisy on the part of the Obama administration about Assad.

Or maybe it’s not “hypocrisy,” but bumbling inconsistently, which when translated to the stage of world diplomacy equals stunning incompetence. Remember, this is an administration that just a few short years ago

– reopened diplomatic ties with Syria.

– Hillary Clinton called Assad a “reformer” (no where near as dangerous as that hapless chap who made the anti-Muslim internet video and who was sent to federal prison for . . . for what? Jay-walking? Failing to abate a smoking chimney? Violating the terms of his parole? Something that for people who do not attract the ire of the president merits a stern talking-to?)

– John “reporting for duty” Kerry and his wife were photographed having an intimate dinner with Dr. & Mrs. Assad, the “wildly democratic” couple Vogue celebrated in a puff piece just a couple of years ago.

It was all part of Obama’s love-thy-Muslim-brother initiative. Bang! Burka Burka Mohammed Jihad blows up another church, mows down 13 fellow soldiers, wounding another 30, at a Texas army base, detonates homemade IEDs at a road race in Boston, murders a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans at a U.S. diplomatic mission in some African hellhole, etcetera, very much etcetera. Who’s to blame? “Violent extremists,” the president’s favorite bad guys. Not “Muslim violent extremists,” just your ordinary, run-of-the-mill extremist — please let it be a white, male, Christian, gun-toting, tea-party extremist.

Bottom line: what’s happening in Syria is the latest assault — the salt in the fields, as it were — on the establishment narrative about the Muslim world.

Nah, throughout life I've found that 99% of the time the simple answer is usually the correct one! Sure there's people who will go out of their way to fool you, but they are generally found out sooner than later!

Kerry says Saudi Arabia has agreed to support military strike against Syria

By Karen DeYoung

LONDON — The Obama administration picked up new international endorsements Sunday for a military strike against Syria as Syrian President Bashar al-Assad denied his government had used chemical weapons and warned the American people not to get involved in another Middle Eastern war.

After a meeting in Paris with Arab foreign ministers, Secretary of State John F. Kerry said Saudi Arabia backed “the strike” that President Obama is weighing to punish Syria for the August chemical attack he has said left more than 1,400 dead. Qatar’s foreign minister, Khalid bin Mohammad al-Attiyah, speaking at a news conference with Kerry, called for foreign intervention “to protect the Syrian people.”

Qatar also agreed to join a statement, signed by 11 U.S. allies who attended last week’s Group of 20 summit in Russia, condemning the use of chemical weapons, holding Assad responsible for what they called a “horrific” chemical attack on Aug. 21 outside Damascus and calling for a “strong international response.”

The initial signatories were Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey, Britain and Germany, which signed the day after the statement’s Friday release by the White House.

The statement was shepherded by the administration after the G-20 failed to agree on a common position. The G-20 nations that did not sign included Brazil, India and Indonesia, along with China and Russia, Assad’s principal arms supplier.

The statement has become the administration’s vehicle of choice to demonstrate shared international outrage as Obama fights an uphill battle for congressional authorization of the use of force against Assad. Kerry said other Arab countries had also agreed to sign it and would “make their own announcements in the next 24 hours.”

On Saturday, the 28-member European Union unanimously agreed to a similar statement. But neither document mentioned support for a military strike, and the E.U. said there should be no action against Syria until U.N. investigators who visited the site of the chemical attack issue their report later this month. The administration has said the U.N. report is irrelevant because U.S. intelligence has confirmed the attack and much of the world agrees.

When I think of all these fine countries, stalwart and true, who are so deeply horrified by Assad gassing his own people, who are willing to throw caution to the winds and actually pick up a pen, it brings tears to my eyes.

How could we ever look ourselves in the face if we didn't honour the sterling moral courage these countries have shown by doing all the work?

Re: War-monger Prez goes on offense

I find it hard to believe that ANYONE can believe that Assad and his BAATH party can be 'held innocent' by anyone. Since the 1980's ,the Assad family has wreaked havoc on their own population, as the de facto hereditary monarchs of Syria.

I suspect a biased agenda in this 'discussion opus'.

so far, POTUS Obama has stopped the Syrian Civil war without firing shot.

Just thank heaven for' small mercies'.

Turkey deploys jets, troops to Syrian border

Turkey deploys jets, troops to Syrian border

In a move to intensify its defense near the Syrian border, Turkey has deployed additional troops and more weapons to the country’s southeast. Earlier this week, Turkey sent reinforcement to the south amid Washington’s calls for a military strike on Syria.

The Turkish military dispatched additional units to Suruc, located in the southern province of Sanlıurfa, on Sunday, Today's Zaman reported. According to the report, semi-trailer trucks loaded with armored vehicles and tanks were sent midday from a command post in the southeastern city of Gaziantep.

Local newspaper Hurriyet also reported on Sunday that Turkish fighter jets conducted a patrol flight over the Syrian border due to “increased activity” in the area.

Automated firing units using Stinger missiles for very short range air defenses have been set up on top of a high hill in the Syrian border town of Yayladagi in Hatay province, Reuters reported, citing a witness who said that the defense system's radar was active.

Over the past week, Turkey also moved convoys of military vehicles carrying equipment and personnel between its bases near the southeastern border.

Reinforcement units were sent on Wednesday from a military command in the southern province of Gaziantep to Kilis province, located on the Syrian border. On Thursday, additional convoys of military units, weapons, and vehicles were also dispatched to the southern province of Hatay.

Turkish armed forces have also begun to establish a new base on the top of Kel Mountain, adjacent to the Syrian coastal city of Latakia, according to Hurriyet.

Military equipment, which was carried by trucks for two days from the Yayladağı district to the southern Hatay province, is being assembled on top of the mountain.

It remains unclear what prompted the decision to send reinforcements to the border, as neither the Turkish military nor the Ministry of Defense were available to provide comment to Reuters.

Local media speculated that the move could be related to a Tuesday accident which occurred when a package of live ammunition exploded while being smuggled into Turkey. Six people were killed in the incident at the border.

It has been suggested by the media that the additional troops will be the first to respond to a possible strike by Syria.

In a recent statement, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan reiterated that Turkey - which has been openly supporting the rebel opposition - was ready to take part in any international coalition against Syria.

"Whether it would be as an opposing force or supplying forces to provide logistical support, all this would be determined by circumstances," Erdogan said on Sunday.

Turkey has been bolstering security along its 900km (560 mile) border with Syria over the past year.

Meanwhile, US Congress is set to debate whether to give the green light for military intervention after President Barack Obama proposed limited strikes in response to what Washington insists was the use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime against Syrian civilians.

It's just show the escalation of the Syrian attack, Turkey is part of NATO and NATO troops on the border, could pull in NATO if they are attacked and that no boots on the ground promise.. well... broken and the USA and NATO countries pulled into a war.

Excellent. I imagine it would be the usual NATO force though: Two divisions of American combat troops and all the rest together amounting to a company of "trainers."

As usual no real educated response to the truth..

I know your for a strike TB so now your here to troll and spam any post against your Obama God attacking on a sovereign nation..

Well not to worry, I am starting to hope the US attacks, so Assad and countries aligned Syria will escalate this with counter attacks on US interests.. if the USA is drawn into another war, Obama will lose his support at home.

Republicans will be back in charge of the USA in 3 years.
