Re: Kerry Says Chemical Arms Attack in Syria Is ‘Undeniable’

That is a silly technicality. Canada existed.
Not a technicality at all. It's like saying Germany fought the Napoleonic Wars. Germany didn't exist until 1861.

Canada had no independent political will in 1812. It was an arm of Britain.

Re: "The U.S. Should Act"

Besides, Syria has the right to have nuclear energy.

Earth to Rosebud? Are you there? Do you know what planet you're on? Do you even know what is going on?

Perhaps you should hit the news wire and get up to date on why this attack is being considered.

Hint: Syria's nuclear energy program is NOT the reason

God help us if not all access to the US is plugged, and one day it won't be possible to block all cracks in this dam that is about to burst.

What on earth are you going on about?!

The only guy in the US who makes sense today is Carter

OH EM GEE

Why isn't Obama getting Congressional authorization and UN Security Council approval? The guy is a warmonger.

He doesn't need to.

Tell that to the Canadians who fought in that war.

Where are they? I'll tell them right now!

Seriously?

At any rate... the US went to war with Britain in the War of 1812... not Canada.

Re: "The U.S. Should Act"

The US must "act." Britain must "act." I dunno, with events this significant, I would expect something a little more focussed than "we gotta do something."

That's the US for ya: Ready, Fire, Aim.

Oh well, like Churchill said, "You can always rely on the Americans to do the right thing, after they've exhausted all other options."

And in 1776 Britain fought a war of independence against itself.

The place was known as Canada at the time, so Canada was invaded, though "Canada the nation-state" wasn't.

That is not the way Canadians view the War of 1812.
The War of 1812 - Home
Canadians can view it as them against the Martians. Don't change the fact that the U.S. was at war with Britain, and Canada's involvement was as a colony and subordinate jurisdiction of Britain. Canada did not decide to go to war. Britain did.

True!

They lost a rebellion against British citizens in the colonies.

Edit... T-Bones was more accurate... the Colonies declared their independence in 1776 before the end of the war.

We did not go to war with Canada.

Nope, nice try. In 1776, the new United States of America had its own government. Little thing called the Continental Congress.

Never said Canada wasn't invaded. Said Canada didn't fight a war with the United States. And it didn't.

Wanna prove me wrong? Go right ahead on and post a link to Canada declaring war on the U.S.

Not recognized as a nation at that time I don't think. It was a rebellion/revolution not a war anyways.

I don't think the USA has invaded Brazil yet.

I think my post said you were correct--the nation state of Canada did not exist, as you said. But Canada was invaded, and the Candians that lived here were instrumental in repulsing the Americans, something that Canadians are still very good at.
