So the other day after a trip to the grocery store I had to laugh. Besides the usual 4L bag of milk we picked up some frozen fish fillets (among other foodstuffs). The fish was packaged in a plastic bag. We decided to cook them that evening for dinner and each fillet was individually sealed in its own plastic wrapper. So between the 4L bag of milk and the fish fillets there were TEN pieces of single-use plastic. But the plastic grocery bag I USED to be able to carry them home in was apparently killing the planet. Yet ironically those bags got more than one use in our household. Some got re-used for groceries. Some were used for cleaning the litter box. Some were used for household garbage in the bathrooms and bedrooms. Now, I gotta go buy a fucking BOX of single-use plastic household garbage bags for the latter two jobs.
And don't bother trying to bullshit me about those household garbage bags being biodegradable or something. They are only so when composted. Dropping them in a landfill still poses a micro-plastics problem since they won't fully biodegrade in a landfill.
Now I'm gonna smoke some weed that comes in a Govt approved single-use plastic pouch and ponder just how much our altruistic Prime Minister truly cares about the planet.
