It's a tough game, as are Aussie and Gaelic. But comparing NA football to them makes about as much sense as comparing them to basketball, or lacrosse. The fundamentals of play, rules, and techniques are completely different.Amen to that. When I played Rugby in Sask , way back when , the intelligent women came to watch our game.They did have to do a shut down on some cross overs who started head shots. The Guys that don't have to go to work on Monday types. Daddies paid your fall tuition frat boyz.

When I played high school football we were tiered by size of school and past school record..
I am not sure they go by records but they do go by the size of the school. In football it is the number of enrolled males attending. Aledo and Western Hills were in the same district.
If you go check my link (Max Preps) you can see that Aledo (this year) is crushing everyone and Western Hills (this year) is being crushed by everyone.
No. It's not. At the high school level it is about developing skills. At the high school level the difference between a winning team and a losing team often comes down to one player. My kids all played or play school sports. Fortunately our school places the value on having a good time and improving each individual players game. Winning is fun but if my daughters basketball team lost every single game and my daughter got a scholarship she would consider her high school career successful.
You sound like one of those parents that practically destroyed Canada's international hockey dominance with your "it's all about winning" attitude. As an international hockey fanatic as well as an NHL fan, I'm so glad hockey canada woke up and rejected your way in favour of my way.
Whether you agree or not... at the Varsity Level in HS it is about winning. For most students HS sports is the end of sports save for the intramural or adult leagues.
Your daughter is an exception not the rule as far as college SPORTS scholarships. I assume you mean she is going to college on a basketball scholarship right?

More often winning comes down to attitude and determination. Teams with a winning mentality and the strong desire to win usually do. Teams that place value on getting everybody a turn and having fun usually lose.
Mine too. My oldest boy was being scouted by the Devils, the Flames and San Jose before he had a serious back injury. He got that good and that much respect by giving 150% on every shift and in every practice. If he came across someone who was better at something he used it as motivation to practice harder and beat them next time. There is no benefit to doing the liberal 'no score' route when as soon as they leave school its all about winning or losing and nobody cares if you feel good about your effort.
Yeah, we've won how many championships since 'your way' took over. My way led to 5 in a row and 7 in 8 years in the 90s and another 5 in a row from 2005-09. Your way we have 2 silvers a bronze and missed the medals completely.....but they had fun riding in an aeroplane.:roll:
Not likely if she loses every game. Then again its not like women's NCAA is a huge draw.

Women's NCAA B-Ball may not be a huge draw (Except in Tennessee and Connecticut) BUT they need (by law or NCAA ruling) to offer just as many athletic women scholarships as they do men scholarships.
I'm not sure how it is in the states but here in canada, all the sports we do in school, we suck at internationally. High school basketball is huge here. How does canada rank? Volleyball is huge here. How does canada rank. If we had the right approach, we certainly should be doing better at developing athletes. It's not like we can't. The 2010 Olympics showed that we have the ability to over achieve so why do we continually under achieve when it comes to high school sports.

Fifteen years ago we had lost the World Cup and been embarrassed in Nagano. Only 20 of the top 50 NHL scorers were Canadian. The last few years its been at over 30 of the top 50. We are a gold medal favorite in every international tournament we enter. You can thank those that disagree with you. Personally, I'm glad they did.

Sure looks like we improved to me...not that I would use the results from one tournament to try and make a point. That would be silly don't you think?
That's when hockey practice ended at the pub and everyone played hungover. Athletes of that era couldn't compete at this level.
