For the villification, its there. It goes back to the beginning of pot prohibition and the belief that being stoned makes you stupid. It's been frowned on since the US thought that black jazz musicians might get a little uppity and feel they deserved a better place in white society.
Look at the prison population in the US. the sentences handed out for pot possesion. Children removed from their homes because of marijuanna possesion. Not industrial scale quantities either.
Looks at the response here on this forum when someone who's known to imbibe posts something disliked by those that don't. They're asked if they're high or told to go smoke another.
If I say, hey I'm going for some beers after work, no problem. If I were to tell my employer I was going for a hoot after work that'd be a different story entirely.

I remember that it did make me sleepy but I would lay there and twitch. The thing I didn't like was this feeling that I was not in control of my thoughts. They just ran all over the place and could not focus on one thing at all. Didn't like that.

I forgot to add that Ritalin has some side effects to my reply post to Petros. One of which I have to be very careful of: loss of appetite and weight loss. I've struggled most of my adult life to attain a healthy 120lbs. I'd prefer not to loose what I've gained.
