The Canadian Forces could play a key role in helping to bring at least 50,000 Syrian refugees — far more than the government is planning — to Canada by Christmas, retired general Rick Hillier says.

"We've got these incredible leaders in the Canadian Forces, across the RCMP and many other places in our nation who are ready to step up," he said in an interview with Rosemary Barton on CBC News Network's Power & Politics.

Hillier, the former chief of the defence staff, called for the government to bring in at least 50,000 Syrian refugees over the next three months, a figure he called realistic.

SYRIA: GERMANY LEAVING THE RANKS OF THE US-ALLIANCE AGAINST RUSSIA

In a surprise move Germany left the anti-Putin-alliance formed by the USA: Germany is now officially welcoming Moscow’s readiness to act in Syria and is starting an initiative together with the Russians and the French to bring an end to the war. This is to stop the constant stream of refugees. Germany has ordered thousands of soldiers into readiness.

I can't see much of an issue with Russian boots on the ground in Syria. That sh*t can get expensive.

Don't know. I'm sure the TOWs cost a bit. I wonder if the Russians will be bringing their new T-90s.

First act is probably to try and sell Russia some 'equipment'.

Changeing the ideology of hired guns and cutthroats? Aparently a small number of T-90s is in the aid package to Syria. And some other neat anti aircraft gear. I think there's going to be some serious trouble in the ME and Ukrainistan.

Oh you're hoping for that! ISIS is going to all of a sudden change their ideology now that the Russians have arrived. lmao
More like the exit of NATO causes them to 'pick a different path'.
You just fought a war for about 15 years and you won nothing, yet you think Russia will just take over and fight the same way NATO has been doing it. That won't happen, few timely drone hits by the loyalist forces and the 'who's on top' changes just that fast. The media would still call them car bombs but the delivery is more like a he anti-tank round hitting the 'car'. Coming from above is even easier these days.

He is talking about this tank. It is a 'heavy drone' as it can be in battle and the operators are in an easy chair with a joystick and 3 monitors.

Let me say that I don't blame the people, 'refugees', for wanting to get out of Syria.

They live in a Autocratic Country that is being invaded by religious fundamentals and that's not much of a choice but we must ask;

What countries are not taking these Syrian Sunni refugees?

On Friday's Real Time, host Bill Maher brought up an often overlooked fact, that I have asked on this site before is why aren't they helping?

Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf states are Sunni yet they've all slammed their doors shut to Syrian refugees.

They are supposed to be our Allies. We're even fighting their out of control monster, ISIS, so they don't have to and yet these cash rich, drowning in oil, sheikhs, princes, kings and emirs won't pull their weight in helping these Sunni refugees?

As Bill asks 'why can't Saudi Arabia's 5,000,000 strong army defeat the 30 thousand ISIS army?

And now we have another Canadian heavyweight is weighing in.........

Retired lieutenant-general and former senator Roméo Dallaire says Canada has the capacity to take in between 80,000 and 90,000 Syrian refugees, and he dismisses security concerns over accepting them as a "smokescreen."

Reacting to former chief of the defence staff Rick Hillier's push for 50,000 Syrian refugees by Christmas, Dallaire said Hillier was "dead on," but his figures were "at the bottom end of the requirement."

Ya think so eh? Well if the Russians really do get involved you will learn.

The Russians will do well for sure. Wherever they go the ISIS and FSA fighters will scatter. Then the IEDs start.

I hope the Ruskies brought their spades and sandbags. They're going to need to get those vehicle floors covered.
How many spades were on the floor of the one you were in that got itself all blowed-up? How you going to blow up a 'voice'? IE "3rd dumpster you will find ES and all the usual suspects." Codename: Mother

Didn't you get the memo? Obama blames Putin for all of Syria and here you are putting them in the free and clear. Tell me again how the US is a smooth running machine.

Good. We're keeping up our skills. Ain't like we can rely on our alleged allies.

Your alleged allies have learned everything they know from you. WTF were your stink tanks thinking? I can't wait for you to hear the words Eh Too Briton, Germany, France. Have no fear we are here and will remain well behind you during your restructuring.
