With minimal media debate, at a time when Americans were celebrating the New Year with their loved ones, the “National Defense Authorization Act " H.R. 1540 was signed into law by President Barack Obama. The actual signing took place in Hawaii on the 31st of December.

According to Obama's "signing statement", the threat of Al Qaeda to the Security of the Homeland constitutes a justification for repealing fundamental rights and freedoms, with a stroke of the pen.

The controversial signing statement (see transcript below) is a smokscreen. Obama says he disagrees with the NDAA but he signs it into law.

Police State USA: 2012 ??

or has it been heading towards this for some time particularly since 9-11?? Another gift from 9-11???

You decide.

Uncle Sam became a water boy and then a hit man for the bankers. Uncle Sham should be given the respect and love due an abused victim. But only after a good beating to git the guns outta them crazy basterds hands. Of course as long as private trans national banking is tolerated the rehab will just be wasted time.

Yes the banks love me alone and replenish my funds perpetually while the rest of the planet gets squat and worse. All I have to do is rant at them on CC, it's easy. You probably have to work like a peasant and can't possibly understand a person of my exalted class anywho..

Financial market cynics have assumed all along that Dodd-Frank did not end "too big to fail" but instead created a charmed circle of protected banks labeled "systemically important" that will not be allowed to fail, no matter how badly they behave.
That may be, but there is one bit of bad behavior that Uncle Sam himself does not have the funds to underwrite: the $32 trillion market in credit default swaps (CDS). Thirty-two trillion dollars is more than twice the U.S. GDP and more than twice the national debt.
CDS are a form of derivative taken out by investors as insurance against default. According to the Comptroller of the Currency, nearly 95% of the banking industry’s total exposure to derivatives contracts is held by the nation’s five largest banks: JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Bank of America, HSBC, and Goldman Sachs. The CDS market is unregulated, and there is no requirement that the “insurer” actually have the funds to pay up. CDS are more like bets, and a massive loss at the casino could bring the house down.

US Running on Myths, Lies, Deceptions and Distractions

Republican Hypocrisy; Democratic Complicity; The Press’s Malfeasance; and Why You Don’t Have a Job and if You Do, Why it Doesn’t Pay Squat

by John Atcheson
The United States is headed for a plutocratic dystopia where a few gated communities sit like islands amidst a sea of bitterness, misery, and want.
Why?
Because the country is running on lies, myths, deceptions and distractions. Not surprisingly, they aren’t working very well for us.
Let’s run through a few of the most destructive lies and myths.

US Running on Myths, Lies, Deceptions and Distractions | Common Dreams

More harsh truths. How can this self destructive path be altered into one that is once again creative, dynamic and progressive?? Or have things gone too far now???

The White House now has positions for "Creative Writers" whose sole task is to write up plausible excuses to use in Obama's speeches to the US public. When he runs out of rhetoric he'll be gone over night in a quick Revolution by patriots. Americans are now tiring of all talk and no effective results.

Americans are now tiring of all talk and no effective results.

Surely seems that way. And Good for them. They are also "waking up" to some harsh truths. Another good thing. When they fully realize how they are being duped and used for the USG militant agenda ....Look out. One big plus for the American mindset is that they don't take being made a fool of all that kindly. When they fully realize what the "war on terrorism " is about ...and how it has given the USG an excuse to do some very nasty military actions , killing many people, destroying cultures, and destroying nations.

No question now: the Empire has run amok and does not even have the funds to take care of its own people. It is more of a militant state than a republic now. All the fear mongering has worked for the powers that be. Fortunately many see through this and see how irrational it has become.

One would NEVER have seen any American allow himself to be subjected to the kind of groping that they call airport security as they have now. This is counter to everything America stands for.

America : What happened?? Sadly we know what happened. The powers that be took advantage of a horrific event to put in effect an agenda they had brewing for some time. Without that horrible event......the US could never have gotten away with what they have in the past decade.

Folks talk about restoring America to its former glory. Won't and can't happen. A whole new and constructive dynamic must take place and a LOT of learning from past experiences must happen. This will take time . Only then can America evolve into a mature , productive, progressive nation again........one with humanitarian goals , scientific achievements, Medical achievements. and better care for its own people. The last thing one should strive for is recapturing something that was built up on shaky foundations. (be it financial , ethical, etc )

Many of us will not live to see what this new America will be like. We can only hope that ethical men are at the helm to navigate it through these turbulent times.

Hypnotized Into an Endless Dirty War

America has decided it has the right to kill whoever it wants, whenever it wants.

By Gary Kamiya

February 21, 2012 "
Salon" -- If in the year 2000 the U.S. president had told the American people that the government would soon begin using robot planes to track people, including U.S. citizens, all over the world, and would reserve to itself the right to kill them without trial, it is safe to say there would have been an enormous uproar. But that is exactly what is happening today, and nobody cares. The majority of Americans, including those who were opposed to the war in Iraq, have no problems with their government killing at will, so long as the killing is done in the name of “national security.”

How did this happen

Hypnotized Into an Endless Dirty War

Isn't that what many of us have been saying for years now??? And we all know exactly how this happened. (well, many of us do. even if the thumb downers live in denial. .

Other leaders and gov't in history have achieved a simiilar state using fear, threats of threats to control their own people.

When the america that exists now......realizes that it is NOT free , psychologically, ethically, culturally, , only then will true and positive change take place. Like an addict ......(be it to pride, money, delusions of self grandiosity ) it first has to admit there is a huge problem and identify the real problem(s). On the plus side....many are gradually having the hood lifted from their eyes and minds..and awareness is creeping in.

Crisis and the Creeping Militarization of US Society

By Christopher J. Coyne & Abigail R. Hall

George Mason University

February 21, 2012 "
Daily Caller" -- Earlier this month, Congress passed House Resolution 658, the “Federal Aviation Administration Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act,” which President Obama is expected to sign. One of the over 1,000 sections of H.R. 658 authorizes domestic use of aerial spy drones by the U.S. government.

This is but the latest case of the increased militarization of U.S. police forces. Other examples abound. Under Program 1033, the U.S. military provided police with over $500 million in military equipment in 2011, more than double the amount allocated by the government a year before. Small town police forces have been equipped with SWAT gear and automatic weapons. State and local law enforcement are receiving training akin to that expected in the armed forces.

what is deviously clever about all these changes is how they are introduced . And how far the popuplation has been virtually hypnotized into going along and accepting these changes. The power of FEAR.....:-:)-( 8O
