Abortion is like jazz. If you have to ask what it's about you'll never know.

Northern Ontario,
I have still not heard of one case where a late term abortion was done for reasons other than extreme health issues of the fetus. I get tired of this topic because the issue isn't about whether it's human life. Of course it is. It's about legal issues and it's about serious health matters. The rest of it is pure irrelevant bs.
I highlighted this part of your statement because I think it is pertinent to this discussion...
Then following this reasoning , you must feel that the government would be wrong in allowing the wiping out of a human life because it is less than perfect, the same as all of us would be against the euthanasia of a quadriplegic, or an old person who is complete invalid and has to be fed and cleaned and cannot provide for themselves.....
Right now the law says it is ok to terminate an imperfect life....before conception.......tomorrow:?::?::?::?:
I'm sure this argument has been posted before....and "Liberal" minds will have the expected response:smile:

After the murder, CNN went looking for anyone who had been offered a late term abortion but declined it.

Keskin, I think CNN also talked to a woman who did have a late term abortion. Also to a doctor who does perform late term abortion. As usual, CNN was objective, scrupulous and fair. They gave a well rounded treatment to the issue.

I have still not heard of one case where a late term abortion was done for reasons other than extreme health issues of the fetus.

Because they are almost non existent. In Chantal Daigle case I mentioned in this thread, she was going to get an abortion, but her boyfriend got a restraining order preventing her from doing so. She went to Appeals court. While she was waiting for appeal to be heard, the pregnancy was progressing, and it became too far gone.

It was at such a late stage that no doctor in Canada would perform abortion. It was not a life threatening situation or mother’s health being in danger. She went to Massachusetts and got her abortion.

But such instances are rare. And it happened through no fault of her own. Most of the late term abortions are performed when there is an absolute need for them.

Anyone else tired of seeing this thread at the top of the charts, day after day?

There's a catch 22 so what to do- not really, but now it's right back at #1. So now it's there I may as well add it is the most wasted thread on the forum- How many people's minds have been changed since the first post? Unless it's Y.J.'s- sorry I mean Yukon Jack's.:lol::lol::lol:

After the murder, CNN went looking for anyone who had been offered a late term abortion but declined it. They found a woman who proudly said she refused. The baby was born and died within 24 hours. The story was presented in a way that we were to all stand and applaud her heroics and chant pro-life. She said lots of "I feel"s. Never once considered how someone else might feel about giving birth to a baby desitined to die within hours of birth.

I hear ya loud and clear. Good post.

That is up to the posters, isn’t it Johnny? If they get tired of seeing the thread at the top of the charts, they will stop posting. Then it won’t be at the top any more.

But the subject of abortion always generates strong reaction, plenty of debate.

I thought all the threads were wasted threads, JLM. We are here just to chew the fat, what we say here is of no consequence to anybody. In a sense, one could make the argument that the entire forum is a waste.

As to changing anybody’s mind, that is not the purpose of such forums. The purpose is to permit those who have strong views to vent here, to express their opinions. I would be surprised indeed if anybody changed their mind as a result of anything said in these forums.

Damn, I guess my simple mind keeps thinking that some threads will reach the powers that be so they are aware of public reaction.

So, if someone else didn't meddle in her personal affairs, late term would've been a non issue.

Unlike any of what you mentioned DS, the human body is hers - not someone elses. Who governs her domain? She loses her rights and gives them to the fetus? If the fetus needs surgery to live do they force her to have it?

Quite the can of worms.

So, if someone else didn't meddle in her personal affairs, late term would've been a non issue.

Indeed. She wanted to get an abortion but her boyfriend opposed. He went to court to get an injunction. And incredibly, the court agreed with him (as I said before, it was the last gap of the dying Catholic Church in Quebec, and also of the prolife movement in Canada, this energized the prolife movement briefly).

Then she appealed. The process took several weeks and the appeal would take several weeks more. In the end, the results of the appeal would not have mattered, the boyfriend would have won by default, the time was on his side.

But that is the only instance I can think of where a late term abortion took place with no threat to the woman’s life or to her health. And it was through no fault of her own.
