Jimmy Kimmel skewers Trump racism

Jimmy Kimmel skewers Trump racism

Kimmel opens the Academy Awards show with digs at the president and the political division in the US – as well as his comedy nemesis, Matt Damon

Jimmy Kimmel skewered Donald Trump and the Academy’s record on diversity in his opening monologue for the Oscars, thanking the president and saying: “Remember last year when it seemed like the Oscars was racist?”

In a self-effacing and sarcasm-laden speech, Kimmel, who was hosting the ceremony for the first time, started by saying how he’d been told he needed to deliver a message of unity. “This broadcast is being watched live by millions of Americans and around the world in more than 225 countries that now hate us,” he said.

“The country is divided right now. People have been telling me I need to say something to unite us. I’m not the man to unite this country,” he added, before delivering the only serious part of his monologue.

“There are millions and millions of people watching right now, and if every one of you took a minute to reach out to one person you disagree with and have a positive, considerate conversation – not as liberals or conservatives but as Americans – if we all did that it would make America great again. It starts with us.”

After his opening monologue, Kimmel continued to jab at Trump and his administration throughout the ceremony. He referred to Ben Carson, Trump’s pick as secretary of housing and urban development, as Doctor Strange; he referenced the president’s obsession with “fake news” and joked that it was nice to have a president who believes in the arts and sciences while introducing Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Kimmel encouraged speeches that Trump “will tweet about in all caps during his 5am bowel movement tomorrow”.

The Parrot speaks

During a lull between the speeches at the recent presidential swearing-in ceremony, Melania Trump leaned over to chat with the Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.
"You know, I bought Donald a parrot for Christmas. That bird is so smart, Donald has already taught him to pronounce over two hundred words!"

"Wow, that's pretty impressive," said Tillerson, "but, you do realize that he just speaks the words, ...he doesn't really understand what they mean."

"Oh, I know," Melania replied, "Neither does the parrot."

I saw the original pic of kellyann sitting on the couch in the oval office. Who sits like that?

I think trump must have chosen his team based on their lack of class.

Ummm and just what is wrong with the way she sits??? Seems perfectly normal to me when your in the company of friends.

of course it seems normal to you. You're hoping there's a upskirt shot floating around somewhere.

Women in dresses with class, manners and whom know proper etiquette, don't sit on couches like that. Little kids do.

I insist all women sit on my couch that way and they are all happy to comply.

After all, what is the benefit of wearing frilly panties if you can display them eh

Oh please! Handshakes are analyzed, how people sit is analyzed how petty! One guy even got accused of making a 'White Supremest' sign when he was simply buttoning his coat and smoothing down his tie.

You'll see women on tv in conferences, as interviewers and interviewees every day sitting with their skirts up around their panty lines.
Let's be at least a bit fair!

ok, a bit fair. fine. bull dozer ain't ya? lol. She's not wearing a mini skirt. She's wearing a lovely dress which probably cost 3 to 4 digits in front of 2 zeros. You'd think she'd have the class to sit on her *** on the couch like a human adult. Not a child. AND, it was a flippant comment I made. Nothing more.

srsly though. Body language is HUGELY important. Whether you believe it or not. You use it everyday subconciously.

You're right, body language can say a lot about the person. I see it every day for sure but I don't use it as a measuring tool to choose whether my husband can be my husband any more or who I want to be friends with. I don't vote for candidates either based on their body language.
I think it's cute to see celebrities in informal poses rather than preening for the camera.

Harry Truman: The Buck Stops Here

Donald Trump: “This was something that was, you know, just — they wanted to do,” Trump said. “ And they came to see me and they explained what they wanted to do, the generals, who are very respected. And they lost Ryan.”

yeah you do. You're human. It's what humans do. Your lack of awareness doesn't negate that (the body language, not the you're human part).

Donald Drumpf: “This was something that was, you know, just — they wanted to do,” Drumpf said. “ And they came to see me and they explained what they wanted to do, the generals, who are very respected. And they lost Ryan.”

holy moly, I don't know if this is a real quote or a joke. Both realizations are hilarious and frightening in equal measure. I read that last sentence and my brain added lost Private Ryan.

My personal favourite (for now) is "Nobody understands the horror of nuclear better than me?
