The Beatles 'harmonies' were ok but the Mamas and the Papas pretty much owned that musical category.

Oh, and The Band. The Band indeed.

The Beatles got together because the guys were friends and liked to play. They were also able to more or less do whatever they wanted musically and could write their own songs.

The Mamas and the Papas were a vocal group - like the Backstreet Boys. They were not a band.

Yes, The Band was pretty good. They had three great singers and one great songwriter. I never really listened to the stuff they did after Robbie Robertson left though. I saw Levon Helm last summer and enjoyed the show. Glad I went when I had the chance.

I can't believe we went 22 posts without the obvious being stated: Celene Dion and Justin Beieber.

And I'm amazed we made it this far without mention of the 43rd president or a certain German Chancellor.

Maybe we've grown as a tribe.

Most of the groups mentioned were or are non conservative bands that let
their messages reach the vocal level of communication is that why they
suck? I for one didn't care for the Beatles that much but then I was moving
on from the pop scene. Notice I didn't say they sucked, they just had a totally
different sound than I was used to.
Oh I was still in radio and witnessed a lot of music and groups come and go
I still like Grand Funk, and early stuff like Blind Faith, CCR, Canned Heat and
a lot more. These people including Pink Floyd were real musicians they could
play with all kinds of people in different genres of music and still be credible.
I think maybe you don't like the messages and Springsteen especially he wouldn't
let the Republicans use his music and that is a positive for me.
Clint Eastwood did a piece that was supposed to be comedy I didn't care for it but
I still like his movies. Anyone who just blanket doesn't like all of those bands I
feel sorry for you, you missed a lot of good music

Bryan Adams.

In the late 80s and early 90s sure. He's been pretty quiet since then so not much of an annoyance. I absolutely hate that "Everything I do I do it for You" song. I really hope I never hear it again.

The Tragically fukkin Hipsters. They suck

Nicklefukkinback too.

Bruce Spring- 'he screams for ice cream' -stein. A yelling dickhead.

U2. U suck.

Rush. What is so good about those guys?

The Police and their stupid repetitive fukkin so-called lyrics.

Pink 'socially preachy' Floyd.

Cher. That snide bitch.

Michael 'sing thru my nose' Buble. Gimme a break.

The Beatles. Yes, the friggin' Beatles.

I don't mind a few of The Tragically Hips songs.

A couple of Nickleback songs are okay, but I can't stand the band as a whole. Nickleback and Theory Of A Deadman sound exactly alike. Ugh.

I disagree about The Police and U2. I like the music, I don't care about their views, political or otherwise.

Bono from U2 sux; too f'n whiny. Brian Johnson from AC/DC sux; only screams, can't sing. Joe Cocker sux; got a voice like he was eating razor blades. Willie Nelson, Randy Travis, etc. suck; they sing through their noses.

I disagree with you about Brian Johnson. I like both he and Bon Scott as lead singers of AC/DC. AC/DC is actually one of my favourite bands(however, their albums after The Razor's Edge weren't as entertaining to me).

Let me see here. Don't mind the hip.
Nikel**** sucks
Bruce sucks
U2 isn't bad.

WTF is Rush on this list. Not only is Neal Peart possibly the greatest technical drummer of all time but he also write amazing lyrics. Ad in Geddy as one of the best bassists to walk the planet and Alex with his wild, unpredictable chord progressions and you have a superstar trio that just happens to be Canadian. And I don't say this just because my ex's cousin married Geddy, I was a superfan before I met my ex.

I can take the police...I can leave Sting

Ok. Now I'm ready to rumble. Pink Floyd? Probably the most amazing band of all time. Gilmour has such style, Mason too, and Waters...what can I say about one of the greatest song writers to ever pick up pen. These guys were so far ahead of the curve most bands are still behind today. Why you have a problem with relavent meaning in a songs lyrics I don't know but I guess we can all have an opinion even when you are wrong...like now! Maybe you want Tiffani to return?

Cher....Buble....meh, belong in that category with Debbie Gibson and, your fav, Tiffani.

Ok, now I'm pissed again. Did you miss your medication? The Beatles? Really? Where would music be today without the fab 4. Or as i call them the fab 3 + Ringo. Sir Paul's career is still going after 50 years (have tickets for the BC Place show coming up ). Lennon was great and would probably still be great & relavant today. George (always overshadowed) was an amazing writer himself. These 3 (& that other guy) turned music on its head. They did things nobody had ever done but have been copied ever since. I wouldn't say they invented modern rock but if they had never been...??

;-)

F*ck me the Pan-flute rocks man!

Beatles? Music? You're kidding right?

This sucks but at the same time doesn't suck.

Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses (Electric Harp Duet) Camille and Kennerly, Harp Twins - YouTube

I'm not sure if it sucks...maybe if they did it naked....

I have to agree with the gist of Grumpy's post. It is about being an artist to me. That means writing your own music/lyrics and playing a fking instrument. And I don't mean strumming C-D-G over & over but actually play the damn thing. These so-called stars of today who just sing another's words at a Mic all suck!! Right Bieber!
