Tell ya what. I am going to offer a heart felt apology. I do mean it. Now lets see just one of the more pious christians here reciprocate. I respect the teaching of Jesus of Nazareth and believe him to be a just, peaceful and holy man. I do believe there to be one true god and apologize for any comments I made that insulted someone.

Anger steals the energy of love...and it is love that is the currency of forgiveness

You have an opportunity to demonstrate what those who've failed to express through their practiced convictions. You can rise above this floundering...

Mikey it makes me cry.....see how theres an open discussion no finger pointing just an exchange of ideas and the ONLY christian involved is Karrie, It wont last, as soon as the others come back it will be name calling and blood sacrifices and satanism .....a whole litergy of hate. No not all christians are mean spirited but its not those christians that scream the loudest.

Who we see in the fun-house mirror...maybe you've seen them...

One makes gives you a really fat head and tummy and stubbly little legs and another one makes you reedy thin and wayyyy taller.....

When we look at what someone believes we're looking at them through a fun-house mirror.... It's far too easy to forget that they feel...they hurt....they celebrate....they love.....

What we believe we are....isn't who we are....

I believe that teaching. Every person we come in contact with is a mirror. Yes sometimes distorted but still a mirror. So if I come across a bigot its because he is mirrorring the biggot within myself. If I see the mirror I can work on the correction of the point.

Satanism isnt Pagan by deefinition but yes I see your point. Karrie youve read nearly every post of mine......tell me why Im so angry and hurt by christians. (I have a point I need your help to make it)

Most of my explanations would be in realm of psychobabble Tam, but here goes.....

My in-laws rescued a dog they found wandering a long time ago. That dog, was a racist. Seriously. Half the family couldn't come into the yard until the dog was tied up, because the dog would FREAK OUT. As near as anyone can tell, he'd been beaten before they got him by a native person. My husband's own aunts and uncles couldn't get near the dog, because they were the wrong skin color in his eyes.

To put it plain and simple, if you've been hurt repeatedly by someone with a distinctive characteristic, you tend to blame the characteristic, not the person who deserves the blame. I have the same tendency, because I don't like to admit to hating one individual person. So, instead of blaming one molestor, all men who are drunk on rye get my anger and fear. It's not logical, but it's there.

What we practise is who we are...

We are both evil and good and right and wrong....simultaneously...

Any belief that fails to acknowledge the harm it's responsible for...can't be relied upon to reflect anything other than that gawky reflection in a fun-house mirror.

Human beings are beautiful ....but so careful and afraid to let others feel that beauty...

Smart girl, we have a lot more in common than you think......including the dog LOL........Now as a christian KNOWING my history would you continuously bite at me? (and for the record you havent) or would you try to either stay away or reach out according to your belief system?

Fear and anger are a powerful combination. Remember....

Instead of "Better to light a single candle than curse the darkness"....Not all the darkness of the universe can dim the light of a single candle....

Ther's beauty in vunerability but theres aso fear. I see you point and remember the teachings. Im also not afraid to be transparent about the light and dark of what makes Tam. I hope that shows.

I don't know that you'll like my honest opinion.

My personal beliefs would be to avoid religious debate with you in favor of discussion. And calm talk in favor of defensive posts. The others have engaged in attacks, but so have you. Who started it is beyond me, being new to the group, but I've seen a relatively fair exchange of religious bashing back and forth between the two sides.

It's sad. I feel religion has so many great things to learn from one another, and this hatred and anger isn't one of the things we should be teaching eachother.

Fear and anger are indeed a powerful combination... capable of eating a person from the inside if they hold onto them for longer than they are needed.

Quite fair and said in a non attacking manner leaving me with my dignity and my belief system not attacked. Thank you. THAT was my point ;) Im no saint far from it and I usually mirror back what Im shown. You showed me in this exchange respect as a person but you said your truth. That kind of mirror I can live with.

Is your honest opinion that pagans are child eating miscreants, devoid of moral fiber and character, inspired to intentionally harm everyone around them...when ever possible?

Or is it like that one whiskey drinkin thug who's taken your compassion and love and turned them into bitterness and fear....so everyone who drinks is someone to fear.....

I can't tell you anything that will provide solace....purportedly one of the strengths of theism. What I can tell you is that wounds all take a long time to heal and anger and fear are about as far away from the healing process as you can get.

My heart goes out to you.

Forgive me for not reading the entire thread, some of the crap spewed out by people is just too much to read. But I've got the general feeling and I don't like it.

Self, I'm really sorry to hear you've been hurt so badly by the church. (And, keep in mind people, this is a generalized term.) I know what it's like to suffer by the actions and words of wannabe christians, having come from a very wannabe christian family.

I can assure everybody, both christian, wannabe christian, pagan, and everyone else under the sun that the constant hate-mongering some of you ignorant bastards are spewing forth is NOT what a true christian would say. I have several very good friends who, despite their christian beliefs, do not believe me to be a stupid, self-centred and self-pleasing satanist pig. They see me as the person I really am - a nature loving, selfless and highly intelligent individual who devotes hours of her time every week helping the injured and tutoring the mathematically challenged. While they do believe I am wrong, they respect my feelings of love and forgiveness. They respect my beliefs, and instead of trying to convert me by way of hate and force, they show me love and understanding.

I find it interesting that thoughs who view what they term pagan do not attempt to understand it. They fear the unknown and what it may hold. They're like children afraid of the dark, without realizing that the darkness can hold both great and terrible things. I view those with pagan beliefs tend to be more open-minded and adventurous, seeking out unknown knowledge and mysteries in order to fortify their understanding of the world in which they live. It is most unfortunate that some of you are so afraid of displeasing your God, you blind your eyes to some of God's greatest creations.

You make it sound like I'm against pagans.

And thank you, but I don't need you to provide solace, I've been able to work through most of my issues. I was merely sharing with Tam some of the ways aversions to certain things can arise. I am able to recognize where my anger comes from, and try to make sure I do not displace that anger and fear onto people who do not deserve it. Heck, my hubby is even allowed to drink rye now, without me getting antsy. But, it had to be addressed. I had to work through that by placing the blame firmly where it belonged... not on me, not on a behavior, but on a person. and only on that person.

lol... i have to tell you, my jaw dropped when I misread that you spend your time 'torturing' the mathematically challenged. lol For a brief second I thought "well that won't help them think pagans are good!!" I think I need my eyes checked!

lol.

Blessed Be :)

Your post is eloquant and truthful. As I had said before both sides of this coin could use a lesson from their own pages. My Sister is Catholic and I was raised that way also. She has been the only christion (other than online) that accepts my ways and I think she does so only because she figured out a long time ago she cant convert me LOL.

I have refrained from posting on this thread because I was too pissed off to see the bigotry that has flowed from the beginning and the person who started it knew this would happen. I was brought up a Roman Catholic but over the years my eyes have been opened by the &#@% actions of it's representatives (I'm not sure how to word this). They have always condemed other beliefs even if they mirror their own. If you look at human nature you find that the more the protest of attach something it is a sympton of their fears. The Church has never been tolerant even if in their bible it say Jesus preached tolerance. A lot of RC, like myself, do not practice anymore because of this intolerance and finger pointing. The clergy had control over their sheep as long as they were not too educated and they could control them, but that had changed and we now see more clearly. As I have said before, God gave us intelligence, with that came reason and it was for us to use them and not be lead around by our noses. I don't care what beliefs people have, if they are good loving people and try to lead good, honest, caring lives who are we to judge.

Sanctus
You say people are pointing out the few error of the Church. Well as far as I am concerned they are big error compounded with the coverup of the pedophiles in the clergy, and why shouldn't we point fingers you do more of you share of pointing.

Self
Don't ever give up your beliefs unless you decide to do it without undo influence. You deserve respect because as far as I have seen in your postes you are a good person and deserve to be happy.

**Here is something that just came to mind: the bigotry on this thread makes me think of the fighting between the ****es and Sunnis in Iraq. It hasn't gotten to that point but I bet it began with the same type of bigotry.

I have ranted enough and maybe said too much but I still wish you all peace and love. You all have a right to your beliefs but it does not give anyone the right to label people with other beliefs.

The first part of fixing a problem is to recognize that it's there. The more we talk and discuss the issues that divide us, the sooner we can heal them. You can never say enough when your intent is to help.
