You can't correct my impression of Layton, that is mine and it is obviously going to be unique to your own. I feel Layton is out of touch on this issue. That is what my posts have been describing.

Is it really out of touch with the NDP supporters?

It is with this one. And it is with caucus. If you want to broad brush the party based on individual membership I suggest you stay out of homophobia, religious hypocracy, selfish greedy bastard and racial bigotry threads.

Yes, thats the way a board like this works. I'm not focussing on the dynamics within the NDP and it's supporters, I take issue with Layton's view on what is good for Afghanistan. I also take issus with what Layton thinks would be good for Canada. He does have my support on other issues, but not this one.

make up your mind here. either you're talking feelings or you're talking facts. I've already had to correct your version of the facts once. Jack does NOT want us to get out and stay out.

The NDP supports bringing our troops home from the mission. Layton's words here from the NDP conference news release:

"This is the wrong mission for Canada," NDP leader Jack Layton said. "New Democrats have sent the right message today by overwhelmingly voting to withdraw our troops."

How on earth can Afghanistan possibly come out of this conflict with any stability without any kind of security there for the Reconstruction teams?

And I would suggest you don't make suggestions.

not in Kansas anymore
Jack wants the troops to build Afghanistan up . He just refuses to admit that to protect the construction from the Taliban, there must be soldiers there, with weapons, that will kill and be killed.Maybe I am the mental one, though it looks pretty clear cut to me.If there is a tree with a wasp nest in it and I want to build a treefort for the kids,I will get rid of the wasps first or I will build and get stung and end up with a treefort that is useless. Maybe I am not so mental, what do you think? Or just walk away and let the wasps make life miserable for everyone in that tree and spread to the whole neighbourhood? Hmmmm.

I would love to know how Layton expects there to be an kind of reconstruction, rebuilding, stabilization and progress made without troops there. Taking troops out of there would leave the Afghan people alone, and unable to combat the Taliban who would surely seize control again.

I think Layton still wants troops there fighting... just not Canadian troops.

where does it say "stay out" in that statement? it really is unfortunate that when it comes to our troops disinformation abounds.

The OP says the article is nothing but the truth. The article claims multiple ridings called the troops "terrorists" and "occupiers". In quotes. One riding association used the T-word in reference to tactics, not soldiers. Another used the O-word but that wasn't it. Unless you enjoy false propaganda, twisted words aren't worth the paper they are written on.

I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of the NDP party. Maybe Bit you could tell me what his plan would be, he has allready said he wants us out of that mission. If he were to be PM, he would send peace keepers back?

You know I love only the truth, thanx for pointing that out. I might have missed taht. Once again I do tend to get emotional when it comes to our Troops. Sometimes I let that emotion get the better of my judgement.

Now that you pointed that out, I'll read the artical, with a more objective view.

I've read a few of your posts today... your dedication to keeping an open mind is admirable, and so much more condusive to intelligent discussion than the spate of name calling that's sprung up lately.

Good on ya!

Yes i am guilty of it, I do apologise. But I find it so frustrating when someone posts facts or opposing ideals to have them completely dismissed. In some cases without the "dismissor" even reading what was posted.

Hey, I know my faults, I am trying to look over the fence from my lawn chair, all I ask is that those that engage, try the same idea.

fwiw I don't mean to deny the NDP has its share of nutters, but all the parties do.

I honestly don't know how you intend to read what is essentially just another op-ed objectively, but good luck with that.

Bear, your the Ghandi of CC.net. So peaceful, so on target.

Bitwhy, I must ask if you didnt feel the article was worth your time why did you post, the thread is about the Article is it not? The thruth is the thruth, this article pretty much sums up Laytons plans, and reasoning for his Anti-war stance, and his ideas about painting Harper as a bush Machine.

I know you fail to realize that Layton is a quack, but thats ok. His plan for Afhans is undoable.... Infact its not even a very Canadain way of thinking. Now I dont hate hte NDP but Layton is a tool. SToffer needs to take the reighns of that party and kck out the rest of the idiots, that dont understand the Importance of the Millitary in Canada, and The world. UN mandate, Canada is part of it, we should always help when it is needed, dont you agree? if not please tell me why?

As much as I do really appreciate your compliment, I'm not always a good boy. I do lose my cool. And being Army, I go big or go home. Hand grenades are in discriminant frags and I often take out those i like by accident. Hey I'm kind of American that way. Oh that was a bad friendly fire joke,
Bad Bear, bad Bear.
