I take it, you would want all the same checks and balances?

Yup. If you want federal or provincial dollars (aside from regular transfers based on population) you would have to apply for them on a case by case, project by project basis.

Good call.

What about the aspect of autonomy?

I understand what you're saying, but the sticking point is going to be oversight, and sovereignty, perceived or actual. Because what comes along with being a "municipality", is incorporation and that has been historically rejected, as giving up our sovereignty.

If they want sovereignty, they can separate.

Then draw up a declaration of independence and kindly f&%k off.
Why would we need a declaration, if we are all ready a sovereign nation? And what's with the foul language? Did I stump you with the request for your fictitious law?

I'm tried of all the pedantic whining.
We have something in common.

That's actually not a bad idea.

The Sechelt band had been working on this for a number of years. I believe the Musqueem are doing it as well. Lost track of how it is going. Band members would actually own their lot. Last I heard, which was a couple of years back the sticking point was paying municipal taxes. Some band members didn't feel they should have to pay. The news media only tells us about the parts that sell print so unless you are actively involved you will miss out on how it goes. I think it would be a viable system.
Nationhood should be dealt with as a separate issue as it will be quite complicated. Just defining what constitutes a nation where there are so many small bands in remote locations is going to be a problem here.

My understanding of the Six Nations grant is that Joesph Brant & his followers were allies with the Brits vs the Americans. In doing so they lost claims to American territory if the US which in fact it did. The Grant on the Grand was compensation for the loss of US territories. As such Brant & his follwers were immigrants not indingeous to Ontario therefore should be treated as such including full Canadian citizenship not as "treaty" aboringals. How far am I off base on this?

Did a rethink about my last post. Please ignore it. I'm wrong. I had forgotten about the Quebec Act of 1774 which made most if not all of the Ohio territory part of Quebec & therefore Joesph Brant & the Five Nations are indigineous covered by treaty rights.
