The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated many families and businesses. During this unprecedented emergency, Ontario needs to take a hard look at its spending priorities and marshal its resources to help families and businesses hurt by the lockdown.
(Yes - many families and biz are suffering greatly - BUT HOGS ARE IMMUNE! NONE have been laid off - they are all sitting home ON FULL PAY! HOGS are not scratching around seeking CERB benefits to pay their rents and they have NO NEED to defer their mortgage payments and rack up extra interest charges either!)
This week, the Ontario Energy Association (OEA) released a report titled “Help Those Who Need Help” that puts Ontario’s much-discussed electricity system into context. Few Ontarians likely realize their provincial government is now spending about $6 billion annually to subsidize electricity rates. At a time when the province is being called on to support people and businesses with major new spending to address the pandemic’s fallout, it is striking to consider that only about $800 million of the $6 billion goes to people who have low incomes or live in rural or remote regions. This escalation in subsidy spending began in 2017 when the government of Premier Kathleen Wynne responded to voter agitation over rising electricity bills by introducing these huge subsidies.
(Ah yes- the Wynne-bag LIE-beral SCAM to try to save her HATED govt with BRIBES on our electric bills! LIE-berals at all levels of govt have issued HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS worth of IOU`s to govt union HOGS - with LIE-berals making solumn promises to PAY LATER in exchange for HOG VOTES NOW!)
(Problem is that we did not have the gravy when LIE-berals promised it - and LIE-berals HAVE NOT been able to find it in spite of a DESPERATE search! Wynne-bag LIE-berals seized on electricity price gouging, green energy SCAMS, carbon taxes and CLOSED Hydro One books so we could not see what they were doing WITH OUR CASH - in a frantic effort to give HOGS the gravy they feel entitled to have!)
(The Wynne-bag effort to BRIBE HOGS into complacency DESTROYED the Ontari-owe LIE-beral party and brought Doug Ford to power! Given the Ontari-owe RAGE at Wynne-bag - the NUTBAR NDPees have a better chance to win the 2022 election that LIE-berals do!)
Ontario is subsidizing electricity even though its pre-pandemic rates were among the lowest in the world at about 12.8 cents per kilowatt hour (kwh). By comparison, rates are as high as 35 cents per kwh in Germany, 24 cents in the United Kingdom and 15 cents in the United States (and those are all in U.S. dollars, not Canadian, as the Ontario figure is). As a per cent of household income, Ontario’s rates are at historic lows and close to the lowest in the world. On average, Ontario electricity bills represent 1.2 per cent of household income.
(There is a LIE-beral LIE - under Wynne-bag - Ontari-owe electricity rates were DRIVEN to become highest in North America - though LIE-berals routinely PRETEND that our rates are at “middle of the road” level! And we certainly have NO NEED to pay European rates for electricity - unless you are seeking EXCESS GRAVY FOR HOGS - as LIE-berals ARE DOING!)

(Ford is ALREADY as serious as he can be about rising electricity rates! Ford is doing all he can to CANCEL as many LIE-beral green energy contracts as he can since LIE-berals designed them TO FEED GRAVY TO HOGS in a GROSS PAY BACK for getting HOG votes in the 2010 and 2014 elections! LIE-berals set up this GREEN SCAM to pay huge rates to wind and solar farm owners at HIGH rates for ANY power they produced - no matter our real needs!)
(LIE-berals COMMITTED the province to buy that green energy at rates that were FAR HIGHER than other forms of generation and this resulted in Ontari-owe having HUGE energy surpluses in spring and fall when mouldy green power production was at maximum due to strong winds - and our electricity consumption was at its lowest due to moderate air temperatures!)
(LIE-beral energy policy was SO MESSED UP that we were paying premium prices for mouldy green power that we could not shut off thanks to those GENEROUS LIE-beral contracts with HOGS - and we had to SELL that green power to Yankee states AT A HUGE PRICE LOSS - just to get rid of it!)
(And now LIE-berals and HOGS are scheming and SCAMMING AGAIN, seeking ways to get the HOG electricity GRAVY TRAIN BACK ON TRACK - looking for new revenue to feed green power suppliers the GRAVY they think they are entitled to!)
(The UGLY TRUTH is that green power IS NOT even green since every kilowatt hour of green electricity MUST BE BALANCED with a kilowatt hour of electricity from a NATURAL GAS fueled generator that must be kept fully manned and fully powered up and sitting IDLE - but ready to take over at a moments notice when our unreliable green power FAILS yet again due to the wind gusts fading or the sun getting hidden behind a cloud!)
Let’s put Ontario’s electricity subsidies in context. Six billion dollars is more than the budget of the following government ministries combined: Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs; Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade; Environment, Conservation and Parks; Indigenous Affairs; Infrastructure; Labour, Training and Skills Development; Municipal Affairs and Housing; and Natural Resources and Forestry. Here’s more context: $6 billion is more than the Ontario government spends on its entire transportation system, both roads and transit.
(All this is LIE-beral NOISE - designed only to HIDE LIE-beral need for HOG votes - bought with sleazy and deceptive electricity marketing! It would be FAR EASIER just to FREEZE HOG WAGES - then our economy would be stabilized and there would be MUCH LESS RUINOUS INFLATION!)
Although electricity bills did increase over the last decade by an average of about $8 per month, natural gas bills declined by about $30 per month. As a result, the typical Ontario household’s total energy bill declined. That’s right: we added new energy subsidies even though household energy costs declined.
(Figures do not LIE - but LIE-berals figure! Under 15 years of LIE-beral miss-rule - Ontari-owe electricity costs EXPLODED! As mentioned - that price gouging was driven by the cost of HOG GRAVY!)
Because the $6 billion in subsidies is not targeted, wealthier households with larger homes and larger electricity bills get larger subsidies. A lower-income household in an apartment might receive a typical annual rate subsidy of $200, while someone living in a McMansion might get a rate subsidy of $1,750.
(So LIE-berals are now complaining about previous LIE-beral policy that rewarded HOGS and are now planning as always to ROB PETER TO PAY PAUL! Just remove the subsidies on everybody and use the recovered revenue to GRANT MORE GRAVY TO HOGS! And in related news - the NEW subsidy rates to “The Poor” can be TRIMMED to produce even more revenue for our “needy” HOGS!)
(What HOG would object to paying more for electricity if one also got a VERY NICE PAY RAISE that MORE THAN OFFSET the new electricity rates? LIE-berals will say and do anything to regain control of govt - and then FORGET any promises they made!)
(Our idiot Boy Justin promised a couple of years of deficits and then a return to a balanced budget yet in the 2019 election campaign that balanced budget turned into a promise to run MASSIVE deficits until 2050!)
When the pandemic forced many households to begin working from home and self-isolating, electricity rates jumped to the top of the public agenda again. People complained, many of them loudly, about having to pay peak electricity rates while at home during the day. Premier Doug Ford responded by lowering time-of-use rates to the “off-peak” rate of 10.1 cents/kwh — roughly a 21 per cent rate reduction.
(And now WHY do LIE-berals want to WHINE abut that Ford offer? Do LIE-berals object because HOGS did not get the special attention that they have come to expect as THEIR ENTITLEMENT?)
This new emergency subsidy is estimated to cost $162 million for the 45-day period it is currently scheduled to be in place. On balance, the premier’s response is understandable. (In fact, the OEA commended it in a statement.) But public reaction was wildly disproportionate to the actual problem. The OEA estimates that most households would have seen their bills increase by at most $10/month due to the increased consumption required by working at home — this at a time when households working from home likely have seen other household expenses plummet. For most such people, spending on transportation, retail shopping, restaurants, childcare and recreation have dropped dramatically.
(More LIE-beral NOISE! Considering the $252 billion dollars that Our idiot Boy is hsovelling out the door - that Ford $162 Million is a drop in the bucket! WE KNOW that due to security issues online and the limited capacity of govt servers - VERY FEW HOGS are actually working from home - thus their electricity costs ARE NOT SOARING! And HOGS ARE SAVING on transportation, child care and the like - but that aint good enough for the PIGS!
( If LIE-berals were so worried about debt and deficits - let them STOP paying HOGS to sit at home on full pay and send them INSTEAD the lower cost CERB aid that so many ordinary Cdns MUST make do with!)
(In related news - Ford now has new ammunition to justify a HOG WAGE FREEZE in our dead broke, Wuhan ravaged province and HOGS don’t like that!)
By phasing out untargeted broad-based electricity subsidies, Ontario could free up almost $5 billion of budget room at a time when demands on government funds seem almost unlimited. Ontario should also end the emergency off-peak subsidy on May 8, as planned, and avoid extending this expensive non-targeted subsidy.
(Uh huh- and OVER TWO BILLION OF THAT would be immediately eaten up by high school TEACHERS demanding IMMEDIATE PENSION UPGRADES! With EIGHTEEN MORE provincial unions right behind OSSTF - all with their own lists of DEMANDS!)
Recommending that electricity bills should go up for consumers who can afford it probably won’t be popular. But the reality is that Ontario’s government should focus its scarce resources on programs targeted to those who have been most impacted by COVID-19. It needs to help those who need help.
(Giving in to LIE-beral vote buying scams is a GREAT WAY to complete the LIE-beral mandated economic DESTRUCTION of Ontari-owe!)
