The Great Lakes just set a record for lack of ice

La nina and extremely high water.
( more turn over and higher volume barometric driven currants)

(but then, the lowish water years where it was more frozen were " glow ball warming" doncha noe!)

I've lived on the Great Lakes for a long time and I've seen them frozen over the winter and seen them open too.

But it's interesting to see them this open, especially since a few years ago they were at their MOST frozen.
And this single datum proves conclusively your choice of:

Corporate plans to destroy the world, or

Kenyan Muslim soshulist lies to destroy Murka and Alberta (why they would want to destroy all of Murka but only one province of Canada is unexplained).

Um...I don't think it proves anything conclusively.

I think it's interesting to be around during one of these times though.

The Lake I live on is open right now but a few years ago it was almost solidly covered.

I did a polar bear plunge the other day.

It was chilly but at least I didn't have to chop open the ice to do it.

I'm sure there will always be someone screaming about how they know the truth and usually it involves a tin foil hat.

Thank goodness this site has an ignore function.

We have a nice little open water channel right beside the sauna
:)

BTW,
The trouble with an ignore button is the people that the comments are usually meant for aren't ignoring the commenter, only the deserving victim is.

Some of 'em are pretty funny. A few are just tedious.

I heard back in the 50s and 60s in the winter a body could drive across Lake Erie or Lake Ontario to (or from) Canada.

Open water is a known and proven sign of Baal's love for person kind.
Hallelujah and praise the Lord (or Lordess)

A few years ago when we had this huge cold snap we were driving snowmobiles pretty far out and along the Lake line for sure. Going a straight line up the coast rather than driving the road which is curved saved huge time.

This year you could have kept your boat in easily.

We have enough ice to do the usual ice traveling up and down the bay lately.
