Haven't read it. Being more a proponent of the social gospel than things avowedly secular I'd have to run the more humanistic of references through the babblefish (like I do with JR Saul and the like).

That said, anything that decommodifies human capital is probably a step in the right direction.

Thankyou, I will proceed in that direction.:wave:

The days of Ricardo verses Marx took its dying gasps with the New Deal. Artificial bifurcated generalities make poor terms of reference in dealing with reality, particularly since in such cases the medium is indeed the message.

You would understand it better if you over 6 feet tall, like me.

```I have yet to get an answer.```
Oh, you've gotten an answer all right -- it's just not very convenient for your twisted thinking. As I said, if the left is as bankrupt as you would like to believe, it's reemergence both in the USA and Latin America prove the point that it remains superior to that of the degenerating right.
It really never went away. Did it? Anyway the health and growth of the American left is very important to the world, I see no avoidance of global war without that power waking up again and reasserting itself as a force that it once was, for the sake of America and the world it must happen and soon.:wave:
You invoke the American democratic Party as an insturment of the left and that in of itself reports your whole understanding of the left, you have none, only the American right refers to the democrats as leftys, leftys know better. The American democratic party ceased to speak left decades ago, your wages at Honda, Toyota and Nissan are still because of the work of the labour union movement.You speak of the socialists movements time as having come and gone, are poverty disease and ignorance gone? A fair days pay for a fair days work is and always has been the hallmark of the labour movement. Find me a benevolent capitalist enterprise that fairly deals with it's workforce without the obligeing work of the labour movement. There hasn't been an increase in the real wages of north american workers since the early 70s, and you think the labour movements time has come and gone, think again.:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::wave:
As usual, very little substance, but getting deeper into shyte.
I site the democratic party as proof, not because they are socialist, but they court the thought and identify as left. But don't let that stop you from climbing on to you elitest high horse and trying to trod over the point, good luck with that.
Seeing as you need more education...
The very socialist leanings of the provincial Liberals in Ontario, voted themselves a great big raise, 25%, and the working poor got 25 cents. Now isn't the just a shining example of moral bankruptcy???
Anyone for Beaver tail stew???
Closest is this one.
Martin Wolf, Why Globalization Works (2004)
Or that the end-of-the-line of such anti-market logic requires you to try to survive based on whatever you can grow in your backyard, without ever trading your turnips for your neighbor's tomatoes.
Nice. He's being promoted by the Neoliberal Veterans for the Truth.:laughing7:
I get the impression its just more repackaged Ricardo. I've little time for crypto-fascism. Does he at least mention that economic law is NOT an extension of natural law and we are NOT its subordinates?
Ok then, WHAT has the left done to rid Iraqi's of an oppressive regime?
Absolutely nothing.....other than try and fight the means that lead to the end. Granted there are some on the left that, as the original article claims, support oppressive regimes but they are the exception not the rule. I would say that most would rather solve this problem by dealing with the issues that have created the problem in the first place. Sadman became a menace in large part because of the actions of the west. The west did a lot to help Iran become a theocracy. The Allies did alot to encourage the rise of Hitler. I believe most on the left want a change in attitude above all else.
I personally think this issue goes far deeper than most and as you probably know ITN, I don't generally think in terms of right and left. For me, both the right and the left have the same basic desires. They just have different means to an end and both have serious drawbacks with their means.
Martin Wolf is the economics editor for the Financial Times.
The book outlines basic economics, i.e. the terms of trade, but there is no philosophy.
Its primary benefit is that it is full of statistics and studies. Its a great source, but not the first one I'd recommend to a newbie.
Hey Mr Cannuck
Please provide us with the info that determines in your mind that the Iraqi regime was more oppressive and cruel than the regimes in Rwanda....
It's not. That being said, the west bears some responsibility for the situation in Rwanda....as do the Rwandans. Fortunately or unfortunately (depending on your perspective) Rwanda isn't as valuable to the industrialized world as Iraq.
Of course and thats part of the reason why this whole thread is yet another exercise of the favored fall-back position of the Republican Neocons..
Point a finger and blame the left for not protesting terrible regimes and ignore the oppressive regimes created funded and militarily supported by America... Point a finger and claim that dude over there has Weapons of Mass Destruction let's go invade and tell the world it's not about oil or Pax Americana.. Don't dare point out to a Republican or a NeoCon that they own a great deal of the mess we all live with....NO NO it's always someone else to blame...
Not for what they did like firebomb Japan or drop nukes on them, not toxifying South East Asia's soil or using du weapons...No it's all them stoopid leftists who didn't protest who are to blame...
What a yuck!
