You obviously don't watch the proceedings from the EU Parliament on the Parliament Channel where one MEP after another make speeches on how they wish Brexit would be stopped and Britain would stay.

They know, of course, that Brexit would make a huge hole in the EU's finances, with other member states having to increase their financial contributions in order to fill it.

They also know that when Britain leaves the EU and becomes freer and wealthier, other member states will follow suit.

While money likely does play a part in the EU wanting to have Britain stay, I think it's more so that if Britain leaves SUCCESSFULLY, it'll likely be the pebble that starts the avalanche to the EU breaking up. I think THAT prospect is what the EU in general fears the most.

I can understand though the EU fear that Brexit will lead to the rest of the union falling apart. Britain leaves successfully, then other nations will want to split and then the entire thing falls apart and then what'll happen?

I think in concept, the idea of the EU was actually a good idea. But like any governing body, it ****ed itself up over time to the point people are done and want out, want something 'new', even if new means going back to the old.
