Because agricultural subsidies distort trade, cause consumers in developed countries to overpay for food, increase taxes without the offsetting economic gain, and hinder the economic development of many poor countries as subsidies lower export earnings of one of the few industries where the poorest countries have a competitive advantage.

and its the US and EU that are digging their heels in on this one. there's many a developing country that can't get its domestic agriculture programs out the blocks because they can't compete locally with what is essentially dumped imports.

think this kind of puts our own farmers on the nut but for now this is a good thing.

WTO talks collapse with aggy as a big problem. Why do we subsidize food production at all? Farmers should get nothing in subsidies, zero, zilch, nada. Same for the oil companies.

Globalism: there are not jokes about it.
And, I am in Seoul, Korea, right now and I have to use a photocopier that only has instructions in Korean. This "global" manufacturer only expects Koreans to use this machine in Korea. Why aren't the instructions in twenty common languages and the ability to download any other ones?
