Hearsay.....but my guess, and the scuttlebut, is that voter turnout is low.

Always a good sign for the guy in power.

The only way Harper will be moving out of Sussex Drive is a Liberal-NDP coalition...........

Hey Colpy good day to you, should the NDP tell the Liberals to get lost, the Conservatives will still come in on a chicken Little minority………………….Which in two years or sooner we will be going back to the polls……………..The deference here is, should the that happened the Liberals have prime minister manpower in waiting, not Dion I grant you that……Harper on the other hand is a one man show………………which means that on the next election about 2010 the Liberals will then push the Conservatives out of the Chicken Little position…………………..to maybe irrelevance………………….

There is some star power in the Conservative ranks............but Harper will be around for some time, I would think.

Do you think is possible that Harper will want to step down if the Liberals take the seat with a minority off-course?...........

Hey, where are the other party leaders, Socrates? Why only the big parties?

Good point, here is a huge Canadian political pool of politicians……

Political parties represented in House of Commons

Other parties recognized by Elections Canada
Unregistered parties believed to be active,

And you missed the independent candidates.

Last minute I couldn’t find them…………
Now we can sit and watch very carefully, for the next 2 years I hope some good thing will come out of this coalition house……….
No more cacophony for the time being…………………….. :smile:

Good day Risus, I personally have a very healthy body, I don’t have any wounds to lick.. You sound like Harper got a majority……….
Keep in mind that although Harper got 143 seats out 308 doesn’t give him any more power than before……..A coalition is a coalition. When you look at the Libs with 76 seats the Block 50 the NDP 37 TOTAL 163 SEATS 2 independents…..

So the Liberals will come back and take care of business, we all new that Dion even though the man is a knowledgeable politician his inability to express him self did him in.

One thin keep in mind Risus my good pal Harper is just lucky that the Liberals put Dion on the helm, had they put Bob Ray or Michael Ingnatieff been the key leader fitting Harper 143 seats Risus are acquired by the Conservatives only because there was a weak leader on the other side………. Harper was unlucky the stock market crashed, which made people rethink, and Harper got very lucky Dion was not ready……….I am making a prediction here today………..
The economy will continue on a bad slide, the stock market will crash again, the economic circumstance facing Canada in the next 2 years will not be a cake walk for Harper, and in 2010 we will pull the gloves out once again, this time with a strong Liberal leader….. Licking what wounds…???????…………

They broke promises by:

  • taxing income trusts;
  • failing to implement the Atlantic Accords for Newfoundland and Nova Scotia; and,
  • ignoring their own fixed-date election law.
They bent and broke rules:
  • on election spending;
  • by using a 200-page book on how to disrupt the work of committees; and,
  • by ignoring, firing, smearing or forcing the resignation of public officials such as the Ethics Commissioner, Chief Electoral Officer, Environment Commissioner, and Nuclear Safety Commission President, among others.
They talked about accountability, but their actions were the exact opposite – increasing secrecy and central control to new levels. When it comes to ethics, the record on the Harper Conservatives has been pure hypocrisy.

LOL, lets face it, the liberals are down and out, and dion a has been. You might as well get used to it, the libs don't want an election for a few years...

And you still spout the same bs. You sound like a sore loser with your tail between your legs...

Hey Risus tone down the friendly fire………………

The economy will cal the next election……………. For your information in my household my son is 24 years old and he is about to get his University degree in becoming a Certified Accountant. He asked me if I would mind if he voted Conservative……. One thin I am happy about in my own home Risus is that we are free people to exercise our own preference of a political party………….
I said no more cacophony…………………..unless things got real bad…………………economically here in Canada…….

Here's an interesting (or maybe not) tidbit from election night.

I was watching as soon as the polls closed here in Atlantic Canada, 2 hrs before the Quebec-to-Alberta clump closed. (As Peter Mansbridge said, 'perhaps the most overanalyzed 32 seats, as we fill in the next 2 hours). All of a sudden, with about 20 min to go before the Quebec-to-Alberta closing, the seat result total was 33. And the BQ was leading in one seat.

My wife and I thought it was really strange, and for a while I had to think about it, and then I guessed - the Maggies. Sure enough, about 10 min later, Mansbridge pointed out that Gaspesie-Isles de la Madeleine (I think it's called), the riding that includes the Magdeline Islands, closed before the rest of Quebec due to its geography.
