Actually........................I rather favor the use of armed drones that can drop water bombs. Considering the nature of our border rife as it is with areas that are accessible only by foot, drones would do a fine job and they could be equipped with cameras and really bright lights. What would be ideal is if they could also equip them with audio. Imagine trying to sneak across the border when all of a sudden you are caught in a halo of bright lights then a voice out of nowhere tells you that they have you on camera and if you don't get your ass back to your side of the border, you will be water bombed.
