The American health insurance agencies have successfully propagandized the idea that government healthcare is socialism and the US citizens believe it.

People's lives are saved which means greater productivity and increased tax revenue generated from that production. Therefore, society has a net gain through this social investment.

Absolutely. Personally I have no qualms whatsoever paying into a tax system that funds such medical care.

Now, what do we do when that medical care is falling short but they payments into the tax system remain consistent or have risen? Because, quite frankly, that's where we are, right now, with the Canadian Healthcare system.

Yup. But those same critics fail to call it socialism when politicians get their insurance at taxpayer expense while corporate fatcats deduct medical insurance costs on their business tax returns.

They also fail to realize that it is called "socialized medicine" in Israel and paid for by USA taxpayers.

Fine. Eliminate the deduction and see what happens.

Apparently you didn't learn from the last go-around when Obamacare was forced down the throats of the local businesses... You remember, many people put on part-time duties, company wide layoffs to squeeze under the 100 employee minimum, etc.

So, go ahead and make life worse for the average worker - that'll show those fat cats!

They also fail to realize that it is called "socialized medicine" in Israel and paid for by USA taxpayers.

Hey!... Look over there!!!!

See my previous links which prove that costs are being reduced while more people are being protected.

End socialized welfare for the rich and society will be better.

The only people who want the old system are the insurance companies they are the big losers
not the people. Of course the old slogans come out of the closet when someone tries to bring
in the public system. That started in Saskatchewan over half a century ago when the CCF the
now NDP brought it in. The dire predictions and the outright nonsense that spewed out of the
mouths of the insurance companies proved to be speak from a crooked tongue (medicare could
have fixed that) but in the end it became reality.
In the future America will look back and wonder why so many had to lose their homes or families
because the couldn't afford it. Health Care should be a right not a privilege and it should be a
public system that strips these managed health care crooks of their control. When they are
finished that the NRA should be neutered next.

My point is that 'free healthcare' is an illusion. You have seen it first hand with the reaction from the private sector.

End socialized welfare for the rich and society will be better.

Fine with me... Just don't forget, groups like Apple, Google, Haliburton, Invesco, et al also have options. They have all voted with their feet.

So, in retrospect, how much farther ahead (financially) is the US society now that those groups are paying taxes in other countries and supporting those societies?

As the old expression goes: Money Talks and Bullsh*t Walks

And just remember who won the election. While you're at it, look again at Walter's post which proved the majority of Americans want HCR.

There is no 'free' health care Blackleaf.

Taxation in the United Kingdom - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"...the effective income tax rate is 60% and with the NI rate in this band the effective tax rate is 62%."

That depends on your tax bracket. Nothing from the government is free in mine. I just about paid enough this year so far to support 2 welfare families or one trip for a politician. INcluding orange juice.

Can the nation afford it in it's present form?.... That is the question here gopher

We haven't been able to afford our healthcare system as it stands for about 20 years. We will soon have to draw the line at who gets how much "free" medical services or the whole system will collapse around our ears. A total rethink of how health care is delivered and funded is past due.

Having experienced the American health care system and the Canadian system, I'll take the Canadian system any day. Frankly a few years ago I had a problem that came very close to killing me.I know that in the US with no insurance I would have said "I'll wait a day and see what happens", I truly believe I didn't have another day. I spent 6 days in ICU , 4 days in a regular room had 7 units of blood and lived. Thanks to good Canadian medical care I did not die and we were not ruined financially.

Seniors Most Skeptical of Healthcare Reform

More seniors think reform law would be harmful, not beneficial, to them

That's not really surprising given the senior population is one of the wealthiest segments of society

Assume much? By the way, you may need to spend more time reading, as you missed entirely what was said. She wasn't in the US without insurance. As to why someone in the US wouldn't have insurance, many people have been rejected for health conditions ranging from disabilities to pregnancy. Some can't afford the premiums. There are many reasons, though fewer now that the healthcare reform was passed.

Well because we couldn't afford the insurance. It was a bad time in our lives financially. And eating seemed more important. Not everyone is rich as god.
