Speaking out two years after being embroiled in a gay sex scandal, former evangelical pastor Ted Haggard said Friday his sexual identity is complex and can't be put into "stereotypical boxes," but that his relationship with his wife is stronger than ever.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Haggard did not rule out a return to public life or the pulpit. He spoke before he appeared before TV critics in Los Angeles to promote "The Trials of Ted Haggard," an HBO documentary on Haggard's exile after his confession to "sexual immorality" and fall as a top evangelical leader.
"I am guilty. I am responsible," Haggard, 52, said Friday in a phone interview. "I got off track, and I am deeply sorry and I repent ... I'm moving along in a positive direction."
Haggard resigned as president of the 30 million-member National Association of Evangelicals and was fired from the 14,000-member New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colo., in November 2006 amid allegations that he paid a male prostitute for sex and used methamphetamine

One thing I can never understand is why politicians' and famous preachers' careers are ruined by sex scandals. I mean, everyone is doing it. Everyone is trying to find their pleasure, in the way that is most pleasurable to them. Why make a fuss over someone else's sexual preferences? 8O

Most of these people usually state publically how moral they are and how much they relate to those following/voting for them..... that they'd be good role models for your children, that they're not corrupt and they're just like every other Joe Six Pack.

So people remember this stuff and when they're caught screwing up, rather then admitting their guilt right away and brushing it off, most of them tend to deny as much and as long as they can, and it's usually when they attempt to lie about it, does it actually cause an effect on their career.

But also when you're leading a giant church with that many people who follow and believe in you, to do one of the things you practically teach them all is wrong, then you got a bit of a problem on your hands.

It brands you a hypocrite and a liar. And when you're that, how can anybody continue to trust you?

He's just like every other person out there who makes mistakes?

Sure, but do you think that's going to comfort those who followed him who actually never did any of that and showed more restaint and better judgement then he? Why should they be following him, who is more flawed then they are?

Seems a bit screwed up, and in the end, I feel that is why people like him lose a lot of support when things like this happen.

Sure I don't have a problem with what someone personally does in their own bedrooms or sexual life, but when the point the finger at those they claim are doing wrong (all the while they're doing very much the same thing, if not worse) then how can you trust someone like that?

And don't forget.... those who follow in a religion, tend to be a lot less tollerant, esspecially to those they put their faith into leading them, like a priest, bishop, pastor, whatever..... they're supposed to be better at morality then the rest of us, that's why they got the job in the first place.

I always thought it was some sort of aircraft landing aid. Left is for take offs and right is for landing. Straight down the middle means "PULL UP!!!" - you about to hit the mountain.

I guess because most "everyone" isn't a hypocrite like preachers and politicians. They (the preachers and politico's) preach some sort of otherworldly adherence to pious faith and unimpeachable morals. Haggard "talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk"

When you look around and notice that 9.87% of the Canadian population has mysteriously "disappearred", it's the beginning of the 2nd cumming - they've been "raptured"

Myself, I'd prefer not to be (chances are poor to nil anyways) as I'd like to keep my morals and ethics in tact by being chosen to stay here

I think you already know the answer posed by that question in the verse. Just because his fellow 'christians' forgave him doesn't mean all requirements have been met for God to forgive him. Say he 'harmed' some individual people, he has to ask their forgiveness before he can ask God to forgive him.

Here's another little known closing an apparent loophole. With Gentiles and tribulation and resurrection there are two choices for each. With 'Israel' they have a promise that they will all be saved at a certain point. That includes everybody ever born into any of the 12 tribes. Not because they have been any sort of role-model (nor has the Church) but the carry the name "His people". At first glance they can do anything and they are 'exempted from punishment'.
The 1st error is that none of them will ever see hell. Before any gathering is started Jesus already has the keys to death and hell. If somebody from the 12 tribes commits a sin during the time just prior to His return (and the resurrection of the 12 tribes) they should be the 1st 'visitors' to hell.
Compared to 1,000 years it's a slap on the wrist.
With any luck this next part kicks in at the time of the resurrection.

Pick a subject that is happening today, Jews can kill a Gentile and still be alive for the 1,000 years, even the ones that can spend that little bit of time. What might cause them some extra pain is if that Gentile happens to be considered (by God) to be part of His Kingdom. All babies (birth till a certain age) belong to the Kingdom of God already as do many others.
Since Israel is already sentenced to the 1st death (the sign requires that everybody come out of the graves except a remnant) if there is any 'additional penalties' attached they are not exempt from said punishment.
These next few verses are their sentence to hell for the 1,000 years also.
Anybody the Bible says is 'blessed' is counted as being worthy.
2Th:1:5:
Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God,
that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God,
for which ye also suffer:
2Th:1:6:
Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
2Th:1:7:
And to you who are troubled rest with us,
when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
2Th:1:8:
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God,
and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2Th:1:9:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord,
and from the glory of his power;

I would certainly like to see their expressions (insert long vivid description here)when that announcement is made to each and every one of them. I could care less how the conversation goes after that other than knowing it will be non-stop for the whole time.

(the equivalent of this for the Gentiles is if they happen to be associated with the armies from all Nations they not only miss out on the 1,000 years but they will be with Satan when that fire comes out of Heaven, rather than being in hell and being resurrect back to life at the GWT)
