I don't care if it's left of left or right of right or anywhere in-between. What matters is that billions of dollars are being thrown away by government subsidized corporations claiming their products are clean energy when they are anything but.

At this point in time, I dont think there is any "clean" energy.

And he doesnt address the mining of the rare earth minerals needed for any of the "clean" tech nor does he address what we do when this "clean " tech needs to be disposed of. I give him a d- at the most.

Challenges for sure and lets keep in mind that renewables won't play a large roll for decades while tech catches up.

This movie is about having massive change now pushing away the slow development of renewable energy. Much of what they are talking about is dated, GM doesn't even produce the Volt anymore. It's an anti-human malthusianism argument which unless you're China is impossible to enforce.

Is unlimited growth realistic?

That it is and a fine one too. And population control is a bad idea? Why?
The planet is not overpopulated, not at all. There is food, water and space aplenty. Itll level out at 12 Billion as extreme poverty has drastically reduced.

Believe it or not, less poverty means less kids born.

How is extreme poverty reduced?

Opening up markets and reducing barriers to trade.

You know hat that sounds like?

Yup, Capitalism. It has already cut extreme poverty by more than half so far this century.

Globalism was the word I was thinking of and yes capitalism.

The movie makers want population reduction now.

Long term? Long term ends with glaciation and that is only predictable aspect of our interglacial climate.

If reading current theories didnt parallel watching an episode of Ancient Aliens it would be more convincing.

Warming? After an extreme cold period? Could it be...

Yeah. Glaciation could return next week but it the only sure thing.

If you feel 1951-1980 was cooler than today ask yourself "was it warmer or cooler in the decades prior to 1951?"

Look at the dates for the top 42 hottest days in Canada. Are most pre or post 1951?

Are any post 1961? Why hasn't Canada set a record in 59 years?

If it wasn't 1951-1980, does it count? No.

It doesnt matter which thread facts go in does it? I'm just carrying on what was started.

How aboot an answer? Why are 40 of 42 Canadian all time heat records pre the 1951-1981 dataset used as the baseline?
